#5 Texas Volleyball earned their 12th sweep of the season on Saturday over UCF hitting at 0.298, just slightly higher than their season average of 0.276 but still well below their 2022 season average of 0.336. Madisen Skinner continued to lead her team in kills with 20 over the Knights, leading to a season total 408 kills. The junior outside hitter’s achievement surpassed the high 407 kills inked by former Texas Longhorn outside hitter and 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player, Logan Eggleston, in 2022.
The 21-4 Longhorns will host 10-18 Texas Tech at home next Saturday at 1PM for their final regular season match where the Raiders rank #12 in the 13-league Big 12 Conference.
While the reigning national champions have secured the Conference title this season for the seventh-consecutive year in a row, their seed and probability of being selected as a host site in the NCAA Tournament is to be determined. If they are victorious over the Raiders next weekend, the national picture could become even more favorable for the Longhorns. Not only did #3 Wisconsin lose to #16 Purdue over the weekend but #4 Louisville lost to #7 Pitt. Moreover, #1 Nebraska and #3 Wisconsin have a rematch on Friday that inevitably have consequences for the destiny of the current Top Five AVCA ranked teams.
