As I write this it appears that Mike Davis WILL return to Texas for his final season, according to Hookem.com via the Austin American Statesman.

AND THIS from Joe Schad at 8:45 pm CST:

Texas WR Mike Davis said he changed his mind and will stay at Texas and not enter next NFL Draft.

And the “end-all” speculation tweet from Mike Davis himself at 10:32 pm:

I made my decision to stay at texas. And to play in front of the best fans in the world one more year means a lot to me. Y’all deserve it!!!

Hook ’em!

STORY: ESPN’s Joe Schad is reporting that junior University of Texas wide receiver Mike Davis will enter the NFL Draft, citing family and finances as the driver.

Mike Davis: “This is about my family and finances. It’s a good time to take it to the next level. I enjoyed my time playing for Texas.”

Davis, the leading receiver for Texas in 2012, caught 57 passes for 939 yards and 7 touchdowns.  He averaged a whopping 16.5 yards per catch this season and emerged as the favorite deep target receiver of quarterback David Ash.  In his freshman year he broke the single season reception record at UT hauling in 47 passes.  Davis will leave the University of Texas at #7 in career reception yards with 1,996, one spot ahead of Limas Sweed (#8, 1,915 yards) and one spot behind Kwame Cavil (#6, 2,279 yards).

Davis is projected to be a third round draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
