Texas Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck is fighting an infection and has been hospitalized, according to a release from the university. As a result Beck will be unable to travel with the team on Friday for their game against Kansas State on Saturday afternoon.
As far as play-calling duties are concerned in Manhattan, expect a joint effort from the Texas staff.
“It’s unfortunate that Tim will not be able to be at the game with us, and we wish him a speedy recovery. We’ll pull together as coaches, and our offensive staff will call plays collaboratively,” head coach Tom Herman said.
Beck was the primary play-caller last season, his first at Texas, and shares those duties this season along with Herman, and the other offensive coaches.
The Longhorns rank 69th in total offense and average 411 yards per game.
Texas defeated Kansas State 40-34 in double overtime last season, but haven’t won in Manhattan since 2002.
