The Texas Longhorns (12-5, 1-3 Big 12) will face the Baylor Bears (14-3, 3-1 Big 12) for the final time in Austin as members of the same conference on Saturday. With Texas set to make the transition to the Southeastern Conference next season, the 108 year history between these two programs battling on the hardwood annually will come to an end.
Rodney Terry and the Longhorns are currently left searching for answers to the losses that continue to mount. Had they missed a last second jumper against Cincinnati they would be 0-4 in conference play. Thanks to graduate transfer guard Max Abmus, they left Fifth Third Arena with a win, defeating the Bearcats 74-73 to ink their first and lone Big 12 win.
Baylor won their previous five games before losing to Kansas State on Tuesday in Manhattan. Scott Drew’s team is very capable, ranking third nationally in three-pointers (40.4%) and second in the Big 12 in points per game (84.8). They are 13-2 against Texas in the last 15 meetings between the two.
Texas is 0-2 in games against ranked opponents this season (UCONN, Marquette) and a win over No. 9 Baylor would do wonders for Rodney Terry and a reeling Texas program.
Tipoff comes at 11:00 am at Moody Center with the game being televised on ESPN.
