The Texas Longhorns (17-9, 8-5) secured a thrilling 88-85 victory over LSU (14-12, 2-11) at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, in front of 10,908 fans. This win marked Texas’ fifth consecutive victory, highlighting the team’s impressive momentum under first-year head coach Sean Miller following an up-and-down start to the season. The Longhorns dominated the game with an efficient 55.8% shooting from the field, including 53.8% from beyond the arc, setting a season high for three-point shooting accuracy.

Key contributors included Dailyn Swain and Matas Vokietaitis, both recording double-doubles to fuel the Longhorns’ success. Swain led the team with 21 points and 10 rebounds, marking his sixth double-double of the season, while Vokietaitis added 17 points and 10 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double. Tramon Mark and Jordan Pope also played crucial roles, each scoring 18 points and showcasing steady scoring ability throughout the game. The team’s defensive effort was highlighted by Mark’s season-high three steals, and Texas maintained control with a plus-7 rebound margin and a commanding 15-4 edge in second-chance points.

The Longhorns’ disciplined play minimized turnovers to just eight and an 80% free-throw shooting rate solidified their advantage.

Up next for the Longhorns is Georgia, in Athens, this Saturday at 2:30 pm. The game will be televised by SEC Network.
