Mack said there would be changes. Sophomore Day is a good start.

With the notable increase in high school football prospects committing by their Junior campaigns and earlier in some cases, the Texas Longhorns are making a point to get to them sooner than that.

It’s called Sophomore Day, not to be confused with, but most certainly similiar to Junior Day. The best prospects in the class of 2015 will head to Austin on March 23rd for the Longhorns first ever day dedicated solely to kids’ 15 to 16 years old.

With LSU, Alabama, and now Texas A&M handing out full-ride offers to kids just a year removed from their freshman seasons, high school juniors and seniors are no longer the only targets of a college’s desire. Talk about overexposure.

Mack Brown and his staff came up with the plan to help thwart an excess of UT’s targets deciding to play elsewhere, a change from UT thriving in the state recruiting for more than a decade.
