On Friday, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns landed transfer linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey, an All-American at the FCS level during his time at James Madison. In the spring, Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey picked up several major offers from programs such as Auburn and Texas A&M, however the Virginia native ultimately decided to commit to the Longhorns.
Next season, the transfer acquisition will look to add some much needed depth to Texas’s linebacker group, a unit that has frequently dealt with injuries in recent years. Last fall, DeMarvion Overshown and Luke Brockermeyer were the two stalwarts in Texas’s linebacking core, however the group failed to meet expectations in Pete Kwiatkowski’s first year as the defensive coordinator.
During his redshirt junior season at James Madison in 2021, Tucker-Dorsey totaled 115 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 4 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles.
With spring ball recently having come to a close, expect to potentially see some further movement on Texas’s football roster as Steve Sarkisian gets his roster ready for fall camp.
