http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/103/1031548.jpgYou could say things are really looking up for Mack Brown and the Longhorns in the 2013 recruiting process. Most of the headlines last week with respect to Texas’ first Junior Day referenced “zero” recruits, as if it was a total failure. Then came Jake Raulerson’s verbal to Texas, which was somewhat of a catalyst for other recruits to follow. After Raulerson’s pledge, 4-star wide receiver Jake Oliver and 5-star quarterback Tyrone Swoopes both verbally committed to the University of Texas.  Yesterday, Arlington Heights High School (Ft. Worth) DT/OT A’Shawn Robinson surprised Texas with a verbal commitment. Robinson indicated from his Junior Day visit that he would take his time and make the right choice for him and his family. He didn’t have to think long, as Robinson became the 4th 2013 commit for Texas.
Tonight, the Texas commitment trend continued with the verbal of Arlington Martin High School running back product Kyle Hicks. Hicks has received a ton of interest from schools such as Notre Dame, Michigan, Arkansas and Texas A&M. It is the fourth straight day that the Longhorns received a 2013 verbal commitment.
With the 2nd Junior Day scheduled for February 25th, Texas is sitting pretty. After all it’s quality, not quantity that matters… and Texas has received commitments from nothing but the finest thus far.
