Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian mentioned he would use the transfer portal to fill roster holes when it made sense. After securing a transfer commitment from LSU LB Ray Thornton, Sarkisian did just that again. This time the Longhorns were the beneficiary of Notre Dame OLB/DE Ovie Oghoufo’s decision to play elsewhere.
Oghoufo’s transfer comes at an opportune time for the Longhorns, who lost their leading edge rusher Joseph Ossai to the NFL Draft. Sarkisian was keenly aware of the need an acted quickly, utilizing the transfer portal to add quality players to his defensive line.
Oghoufo played three years at Notre Dame and registered 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season.
