Texas started its season ranked No. 12/11 and beat UT-San Antonio in its first game, 90-53. Texas won the next three games before traveling to Knoxville to play No. 4/5 Tennessee. Texas ranked No. 8/8 heading into the game, and Tennessee owned a 27-game winning streak at home. The Longhorns upset the Volunteers, 64-53. Four days later, No. 6/6 Texas faced No. 9/9 Mississippi State at the Frank Erwin and won, 53-47. The Longhorns are 6-0.

Senior center Imani Boyette recorded her 1,000th point in her career at Texas in the fourth game of the season against Hampton. Boyette is the 40th player in Texas history with at least 1,000 points. To date, she totals 1,041 points and 211 blocks at Texas. Boyette averages 14.2 points per game, leading the Longhorns.

Freshman guard Lashann Higgs has also made quite a name for herself. Higgs earned Big 12 Freshman of the week honors after helping the Longhorns beat Hampton and Tennessee. Higgs scored a team-high 18 points against Tennessee, including a crucial three and layup in the second quarter of the game, giving Texas a lead that they held on to for the rest of the game. Against Hampton, Higgs recorded her first double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Longhorns ended their 2014-2015 season in the Sweet Sixteen after getting beat by No. 1/1 University of Connecticut – the eventual national champion. Their overall record was 24-11 and 9-9 in Big 12 play. Texas has five more non-conference games before their first Big 12 challenge on Dec. 30 against West Virginia in Morgantown.
