AUSTIN, TX — Matt Coleman III scored 17 and Andrew Jones contributed 15 points in Texas’ 70-56 win over Prairie View A&M on Friday night. The win, which came in Regional Round of the 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project, was the Longhorns’ 4th of the season and 9th straight.
The Longhorns shot 42.1% from the field, while the Panthers shot 42.9%. Texas turned the ball over 16 times compared to 21 by Prairie View.
Donovan Williams and Jase Febres had double digits in scoring, with 13 and 10 points respectively. Jericho Sims owned the boards all-night with a game-leading 10 rebounds.
Lenell Henry led the Panthers with 12 points, and Chancellor Ellis followed with 11 points.
The Longhorns will take an undefeated 4-0 record to Madison Square Garden to face the Georgetown Hoyas on Thursday, November 21st in the quarterfinal round of the Empire 2K Classic.
