Ya'll keep Shevis Irons in your prayers

Thanks for the update Shevis. Stay strong and know that we are all sending positive thoughts your way.

So, I got to ring the bell last Friday after 3o rounds of Radiation. I have been with family members and friends when they finished a treatment and got to do the same but I kinda have to admit, I felt a deep sense of pride ringing that little bell. This intense Radiation may have taken my vocal chords (they don't know if I'll get them back) and it may temporarily cause every swallow feel like a thousand knives are cutting at my throat but I have avoided the feeding tube and put myself in a position to let The Heavy Chemo do its job. All this by the Grace of God. By the support of y'all through your prayers. And by the prayers and love of my team of Prayer Warriors that include many of you as well as my friends and family. So I say, see, God is answering our prayers.

I hope that I will have half the courage you do, Shevis. Your personality, courage, and outlook on life is just wonderful.

Hook'em!

Atta boy Dennis. Keep up the good fight!

Congrats on getting that bell man. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Big day today. I graduated from Ensure to soup.

Now I gotta find out what soups have a lot of protein and are smooth and easy to sip/ear.
Dennis, you're doing great! Baby steps, but you'll beat this buddy!

I recommend making lentil soup, and pulsating it in food processor to make it easier to consume.  Another soup with same process is barely soup.  All hearty and will warm your soul.

Get some chicken broth or stock and build your own soups. You can either roast a chicken or buy a rotisserie chicken already done, take the meat off the bone, run it through a food processor and add it to the stock for a simple soup. That ground chicken (or turkey) is a complete protein and should be easy enough to swallow. That should get you started, but you will have to take vitamin supplements. Beans will be incomplete proteins and it is tough to get all the amino acids if you go with grains or beans in a limited diet. See if you can swallow scrambled eggs. Also, hummus and pita would be good as would peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread. Gelatin is really high in protein, so if you make your own stock, simmer the hell out of the bones and the gelatin as well as marrow will have a lot of protein. Your local sushi restaurant should have miso soup. Miso soup is high in sodium, but also high in protein, especially if you get them to put extra tofu in it. Finally, find a good protein supplement to mix in smoothies or shakes or with juices.

I made some chicken noodle soup from scratch earlier in the week for mrs joeywa. She wasn't feeling well and that did the trick. So easy, similar to what Duke said, but I didn't food pro mine.

You hang in their, partner.  I have seen some wonderful things in my career.  Things greater than science.  Something, besides us, has your back.
