– Kris Boyd will be a Nathan Vasher- like player for us. Big hitter. Big playmaker. All kinds of skills. Can play multiple roles. Big pick up.
I hope you are right on Boyd.  I've seen both in person and Boyd has a ways to go to be like Vasher.  Vasher was a special player.

We both can agree this is a great class.

Sorry I missed all the fun. Had to earn a living today.

My thoughts . . . .

– Best class we could have hoped for in our best case scenarios.

– Malik really turned the tide for Texas during the last two months. He made it cool to be Texas again among the youth.

– Malik also drew huge attention to Charlie's best attribute – coaching and developing players. This became a common mantra among prospects considering Texas.

– Flirtations with the likes of Kyler Murray that got so serious it required Murray to announce he was sticking with his previous commitment – was huge for Texas. When you're so attractive that aggy legacy drives to Austin to see what you have to offer – then struggle with the decision – you have arrived on the recruiting scene.

– You have not heard the end of it regarding the Mack recruitment. I'll leave it at that.

– Kai Locksley was a big pick up for this class. Texas needed a high quality QB and got one in Kai. This gives depth to the group and allows people like Merrick to continue developing.

– Soso broke my heart. Kid is a home run threat every time he touches the ball. UCLA got a HUGE pick up here.

– Warren enables me to recover from the loss of Soso. Warren may not break as many long runs, but he'll certainly put up similar numbers. Rare combination of size, speed, and great vision. Texas needed a high quality back and got that in Warren.

– The OL haul is fabulous. A couple of seasoned JCs along with some high talent HS prospects. We met our need here and got big quality.

– Newsome and Locke were nice flips at the end. Locke took the spot Irvin had before flipping.

– We will need to stock up on DTs in 2016 and I hear its a good year to do that. Still, Lampkin gives us some continuation and has some serious talent.

– McNeal is a beast. This kid will win some games for us. He's got "it."

– Charlie did what other UT coaches did not or could not – have great success in Florida. This was HUGE for Texas, now and in the future.

– The swag and attitude brought by the Florida kids will pay dividends in games like the RRR.

– Billy Lucci is about the dumbest collection of living flesh I have ever seen.

– Kris Boyd was not wavering. He was Texas the whole time. He likes to play, but was never in play after his commitment.

– Kris Boyd will be a Nathan Vasher- like player for us. Big hitter. Big playmaker. All kinds of skills. Can play multiple roles. Big pick up.

– Welcome to the age of the TALL corner on the 40 acres. See Hill, Davis. 6'2 and 6'3. You gotta love it.

– Best linebacker class I've ever seen signed at Texas. There is at least two of these who can start next year.

I am thrilled with where we're at. I hear we're not finished. A QB still is on the wish list, coming from somewhere else. We'll see how that plays out.
Agree completely with everything you said.

I am just so impressed with Charlie Strong, and with his staff.

We have a winner.

Ok coach Strong and his staff were amazing on the recruiting trail especially after the blunder of a season we just had. Now that NSD is in the books I would love to hear the behind the scenes stories of Daylon Mack, Kyler/Kevin Murray, and anyone else from the staff and SHA.

the thing you gotta understand about boyd though swaha is that hes so versatile in his ability to block and his agility in quickness is  what makes him really good..very diversified in both offense and defense

I second this.

There is no doubt that he is versatile and I am glad he is a Horn.  I hope he turns out to be as good or better than Vasher.

Me too!!

His talk about Locke was interesting.  He was one of those guys who grew up liking Texas.  Strong said he even had a pennant that read "Hook'em" on the wall of his room.

We recruited him early, but then he picked Oregon.  And that's when we went after Jam Johnson.  He said that we kept in touch with him, and still had the coaches drop by when they were in that area anyways.  Then Johnson flipped, and Strong said lets try again with Locke.  Strong said --  "Let's take a swing.  What's the worst he can say? No?  We been told No before."  At first Locke was firm Oregon, but then began to open it up.  The main thrust of the story was that they just did not quit, kept working and it paid off i the end.  And Strong specifically mentioned Locke as someone he thinks will become a good player for us -- and he said that with some conviction (I thought).

"He's going to have draft opportunities, it depends on how high and where that's going to be." - Sumlin on Kyler Murray's baseball future

I was really bummed out about Soso until I took a look at the three new RBs, plus what we have returning. RB will be VERY DEEP this season, and for the next few seasons. To me, that is a big key to football success - having a deep and versatile group of running backs. The two-deep will be seriously tough to crack. Take the top two running backs in Texas for 2016, and it will be FILTHY!

interesting that we haven't heard the last of the mack recrutment.  It seemed obvious that something very odd happened.  Now maybe it was that he pulled a Ryan Perilloux and lied straight to Coach's face but something happened.  I also find it notworthy what I believe Juan mentioned earlier in this thread about how an aggy lawyer helped the Mack's trademark $WRTS and how money would funnel through that way, which could be a violation......

Strong mentioned Edmond in a comparison to Cherry

I was thinking Doug Shankle, but that is prolly too long ago for anyone to remember
