Sorry I missed all the fun. Had to earn a living today.
My thoughts . . . .
– Best class we could have hoped for in our best case scenarios.
– Malik really turned the tide for Texas during the last two months. He made it cool to be Texas again among the youth.
– Malik also drew huge attention to Charlie's best attribute – coaching and developing players. This became a common mantra among prospects considering Texas.
– Flirtations with the likes of Kyler Murray that got so serious it required Murray to announce he was sticking with his previous commitment – was huge for Texas. When you're so attractive that aggy legacy drives to Austin to see what you have to offer – then struggle with the decision – you have arrived on the recruiting scene.
– You have not heard the end of it regarding the Mack recruitment. I'll leave it at that.
– Kai Locksley was a big pick up for this class. Texas needed a high quality QB and got one in Kai. This gives depth to the group and allows people like Merrick to continue developing.
– Soso broke my heart. Kid is a home run threat every time he touches the ball. UCLA got a HUGE pick up here.
– Warren enables me to recover from the loss of Soso. Warren may not break as many long runs, but he'll certainly put up similar numbers. Rare combination of size, speed, and great vision. Texas needed a high quality back and got that in Warren.
– The OL haul is fabulous. A couple of seasoned JCs along with some high talent HS prospects. We met our need here and got big quality.
– Newsome and Locke were nice flips at the end. Locke took the spot Irvin had before flipping.
– We will need to stock up on DTs in 2016 and I hear its a good year to do that. Still, Lampkin gives us some continuation and has some serious talent.
– McNeal is a beast. This kid will win some games for us. He's got "it."
– Charlie did what other UT coaches did not or could not – have great success in Florida. This was HUGE for Texas, now and in the future.
– The swag and attitude brought by the Florida kids will pay dividends in games like the RRR.
– Billy Lucci is about the dumbest collection of living flesh I have ever seen.
– Kris Boyd was not wavering. He was Texas the whole time. He likes to play, but was never in play after his commitment.
– Kris Boyd will be a Nathan Vasher- like player for us. Big hitter. Big playmaker. All kinds of skills. Can play multiple roles. Big pick up.
– Welcome to the age of the TALL corner on the 40 acres. See Hill, Davis. 6'2 and 6'3. You gotta love it.
– Best linebacker class I've ever seen signed at Texas. There is at least two of these who can start next year.
I am thrilled with where we're at. I hear we're not finished. A QB still is on the wish list, coming from somewhere else. We'll see how that plays out.
