I'm Hearing

If they both understand that it's over, why are they both holding on?
If Mack don't end this charade soon, he is going to start losing a great deal of respect. Not that he hadn't already.
its already happened. and people should be more outraged.

Thanks McPhaul. Sounds like Jesus thinks Powers may kill Saban to Texas. If that's true it's depressing we have leadership that doesn't crave winning in football as much as we do.
Chip Brown said the other day if Mack does step down and Patterson can get Saban Powers would not interfere. So it sounds like we have conflicting reports.

if that is the case, i want ESPN to scroll tonight that Mack has resigned. no need to wait till banquet.
Mack knows that him delaying will hurt Saban to Texas and Mack does not want that bc Mack Brown knows that Saban can turn this $#@! around in 1-2 years and is 100x the coach Mack is currently. IF Saban comes in and wins Big12 with 11-1 record everyone will know Mack is to blame for the past 4 years.
Who else is to blame for the last 4 years except Mack????????

Let's not talk about firing Powers. That is silly and it is not going to happen.

Powers is a lame duck at this time. That is why I would not support him on his stance against Saban. Keep in mind, Dodds and Brown are the two that convinced Powers that Saban was unethical. Powers is listening to of his his closest friends.

Where the Hell is Abbott?? Isnt he suppose to be able to control Powers bc of the Perry situation?

Powers will be stepping down within six months to a year. Saban would be with us for a 6-10 years. Not sure supporting Powers is the best for our program.
I put the good of the University over the football program. In any case, Powers will concede to the Regents and the BMD's, IMO. Besides, there are multiple good coaches out there. I'd prefer Jim Harbaugh over Saban, anyway.

Really? Saban? Mack going to tell all he is retiring? Lot of smoke in the air. Everyone seems to know about what is going on. Will beleive it when it is a fact.

Change is coming. The weather is going to get warm.

HOOK EM

McPhaul, how certain are you to believe that Powers will back off and allow Patterson and BMD do their job?

JS says Powers is significantly blocking the way of getting Saban.

No Mike, we don't. Chip is well aware of the power struggle going on. What needs to be understood is how you define "interfere"?

The power brokers need to tell Powers to stand down or we need to fire his ass too
I feel the same way. Mack, with his vaginal ways, probably got in Powers' ear about Saban. I am sick to death of MBTF.

Powers has made it very clear to Patterson that it is not his decision. Don't blame Patterson. He is caught in the middle.
Now you may know why Luck had some questions pertaining having this all cleared up so, he would not be caught in the middle.
Hicks needs to throw his weight around. It sounds like Powers is starting to get a little too bigheaded in his own right.

He knows football coaches aren't supposed to be his call. This hurt UT before in the distant past. I've heard about it first hand from various family members that would know.

Some of the struggles in the 80s and 90s can partially be attributed to a certain president sticking their nose in things back in the late 70s.

Let's don't do this again.

Hicks has the power to make a difference.

I'll take Saban over Powers since he's a short timer at this point. We need a massive culture change in football and we can get another good President to oversee the academics.

Who is more qualified to make a coaching selection, the BMD's or Patterson. I would think and hope it would be Patterson. It's sounding like he may not be involved in anyway, which is disturbing to me.

I am happy to have found this website. After many years of messing around a few of the other older ones... Finally a place for information and primarily classy exchanges.

Powers has done some good things as President, but in many ways reminds me of Mack in that he so often makes sure to say all of the right things, while not always doing them in the background. I think they are both good men who need to move along with our gratitude. And Powers needs to stay until Perry is gone but not a moment longer. Mack needs to finally practice what he preaches and prove that our program and University are bigger than any individual.

Other than envy, what is it that Powers and Brown would have against Saban?
