I like Charlie. A lot.

If this ends in a 3 win season he might just get fired. Would happen to a lot of good coaches. He deserves at least 3 recruiting classes. I think he'll get the required success if given the time.

Despite some of my earlier comments, which may or may not have involved more vodka than usual, I do think Charlie should get a minimum of 3 years

Right now I fall somewhat in the middle. We all know that what he was left with talent wise definitely left him behind the proverbial 8 ball. However, I am just not totally convinced that he is can be an elite head coach at an elite school. Nor am I am convinced that his coaching staff is as good as it can be. But, as a long time Longhorn fan (was in the stands when we beat Navy in the Cotton Bowl in the early 60's), I won't ever give up on them.

I hope that Charlie can turn this thing around and believe that he will get the chance to unless we go 3-9 or 4-8. The four year fiasco Will Muschamp had at Florida serves as a reminder that when things get really bad, it is hard for even a good coach to change that. We can all trust that the leadership at Texas is watching this closely as this is costing the university millions in lost revenues. They won't gamble another year on Charlie unless they truly believe he can put butts in the seats. While it may be hard for some to understand, this transcends football wins; Texas football is a business.

We ARE going 3-9 or 4-8 this year. Who are we going to beat besides ISU, KU, and maybe KSU ? WVU is good and even when they aren't its hard to beat them at Morgantown. Don't even think we can outscore TCU, OU, or Tech. Even an improved defense isn't going to hold those teams under 40. OSU put up 30 with several turnovers stopping them. Our offense only scored 13 against OSU....SMH....We are guaranteed to finish 4-8 or worse.

Charlie may have been the right man for the job, but he made the wrong hires.

Speaking of putting butts in the seats, how big was the crowd Saturday? Saw one comment that estimated that it was only about 60% full with others saying 80%. It looked like more 60% for sure on TV but don't remember ever seeing a good crowd shot.

I want Charlie to work out and this team is showing improvements, but when you start looking at all the big name schools most have had multiple hires before they hit on the right coach . Alabama went thru a string of coaches,  Nebraska is on Coach number 3 ,  Tennessee is on Coach number what since Fulmer,  Colorado thought Hawkins was their guy and they are still struggling to regain what they had in the 90's ,  UCLA,  USC, Florida,  even A&M  went thru how many coaches after Slocum was let go.  I think Charlie does have us going in the right direction and hopefully everyone see the improvements that I am seeing. Next year will be Charlie's judgement year no matter what anyone says on this board.  If he does not have enough wins to satisfy the donors and the majority of the fan base then his time here will come to an end.  Eight wins will be a must for next years team.

Pretty much sums it up for me.

I am always a glass half-full type of guy. But there are two sides to that. Does it always get the darkest just before dawn or does it always get the darkest just before it turns pitch-f##king black.

I am absolutely serious! And I have more understanding for the game than you think I do. Come one man, 1-3 to start the year and you're okay with that? That's the same record as f##king SMU! It's time for this staff to shit or get off the pot! Quit making excuses for them! Hell yes, I'm pissed!
SMU just lost to Jame Madison.  The fact that James Madison is even on their schedule eliminates them from any comparisons to Texas.

Heard (looks to have potential)
I'd rate Heard as "outfriggingstanding and we be 0-fer without him" but that's just me. Remember, he was Strong's top priority as keeping him committed when he took this job.

I don't have a clue how good James Madison really is.

However, they scored only 8 less points against SMU than both Baylor and TCU did.

And they had more first downs and more yards of total offense than both Baylor and TCU did.

That's something. Wow!
