I was surprised Lake Travis handled Katy in the rain. Seems like poor conditions would've favored their ground & pound offense.

Also shocked that Cy-Fair held Westlake to only 6 points. How many times did the Chaps turn the ball over, anyway?

I heard the Lake Travis QB was injured?  Also found out he is an Ohio St commit.  That's big time and in our backyard again with Lake Travis QBs.

like Garrett Gilbert?

Westlake turned the ball over 3 times (1 int, 2 fumbles)as Cy-Fair continues to be one of the best tackling teams in the Houston area.  The Bobcats won't wow you when they take the field, but ILB's Atkinson and Bobo are very good and have a shutdown CB in Hallett.

Katy had to many exchange issues between center and QB under center and in the shotgun.  Combine that with a dropped pass in the endzone, that spelled doom for the Tigers despite the good day by RB Deondrick Glass.  Lake Travis made plays when they needed to and didn't let the conditions effect them as much.

Wasn't necessarily a positive or negative commentary on the Lake Travis QBs, just interesting that they produce so many QBs getting scholarships.  I hadn't heard he had committed to buckeyes.  Do you know of any injury to him in that game?  Also, Kate needs to have cartoon captions attached to her posts with detailed info regarding which recruits she is talking about :) .  Wait, I probably wouldn't even notice those cartoon bubbles with her resting comfortably by the pool.

Let me get this straight. . . . You want to include "text" in a Kate gif? Just hand over that man card and don't even look up for 12 hours. lol

Kate, in and of herself, is a message. Its no more and no less than what it is and means. That said, I would gladly toast you with a glass of her bath water. lol

Can't I dream of more? :D

Okay, convo on another thread brought up an interesting subject that I can share about. – the recruits and what it was like covering them this year.

Rondale Moore was difficult to find stuff on. They do things quite differently up there. I was somewhat surprised by the enthusiasm for football in Kentucky, but disappointed in how they do their playoffs. An 0-11 team played Moore's team in the first round.

Keondre Coburn and AYODELE ADEOYE – like any DL or OL, its just tough getting stats on them. Newspapers and websites are already reducing the amount of stats they keep and print. Heck, its hard finding individual stats for games anymore, period. I was surprised IMG didn't offer more info on their players than they do.

Easiest out-of-stater to cover was Cam Rising and it wasn't close. Lots of good press coverage of this star and his high school. He is very well thought of out there. He's in the Thousand Oaks-LA area, so the various LA papers and a few HS dedicated websites keep good tabs on his every move.

A tip of the hat to the Houston Chronicle. If not for them, it would have been much more difficult to keep up with the Houston-area recruits. And there are a lot of them this year. They do a fine job at the HC and you're able to get a feel for the whole area from their coverage.

Of the players left on the Texas board, I would say Vernon Jackson excites me the most. UT has him penciled in for a DE or LB spot. Think about that. He's blowing up as a RB (albeit in a small classification) and doing all kinds of athletically freakish things. And he'll be chasing QBs for us. Makes you want to smile. :)

Similar thoughts with regard to Reese Moore. Kid is quite athletic, enough so that he often burned DBs and safeties out in the panhandle this year. And he'll land at OT for us. The athleticism reminds me of Connor Williams, who also played TE in high school at Coppell.

What a shocker? Pg over Wos. Hope I didn't influence your pick? Lololol. Jk. You do a great job with this. I truly wish you well with your book. I'm sure it will be great! Now.... .you do have to confess to all that I started out thanking you for your insight and coverage. I said it. Meant it! Putting my guns down. Lololol. PG 7 Wos 6. There you go. Lololol.

Hey, I could be wrong. I often am.

Here's why I picked how I picked on the PG-WOS game.

Looking at recent performances, the WOS offense seems to be sputtering. Barely got by Madisonville 28-26, was held to 14 by Salado, and were held close by Wimberley (30-21). So its not like WOS is just killing people.

I combine that with the fact that PG has not only put points up, but their defense is shutting down some good offenses.

PG also seems to be getting better the deeper they go, beating (in the last three weeks) Celina (33-14), Melissa (55-14) and Graham (45-14). PG has definitely hit their stride at the right time.

I combine that with the fact that PG has faced some formidable competition this season, including Texarkana, Ark, Gilmer, Atlanta, Liberty-Eylau, and Paris – and thats before they hit the playoffs.

If I were asked to call a score, I'd say PG 28, WOS 14

I don't know much about Manvel. There is just something about the Jones kid at QB for HP.  I watched him the other night against Denton Ryan and the kid is a player. He made play after play against a team that I thought was more athletic than HP. He just seems to have the "It" factor.

Agree, he does. He's got that mojo, combined with what is essentially a system offense – you get lots of success.

I think Manvel wins that one, but HP won't go down easily.
