"We don't have huge margin for error," Mack said. "As coaches we have put [players] in the right position but guys have to go out and make plays."
Is this throwing the players under the bus?

KERPLUNK!!!! That sound you heard is the bus running over our players!!! I am beginning to lose what little respect I still have for "mack brown".

that is a guy showing his a%%. he doesnt know how to fix it. he doesnt get it. the team is a reflection of him. no soul, no identity.

Man, I never wanted to see the day when Mack would deflect blame onto the players he is responsible for coaching. I'm not saying that the players don't share their portion of the blame, as they do. But to claim the coaching staff has put this team in the "right position" to "go out and make plays" is either a severe case of naivety or a fruitful amount of mental negligence. And if we're speaking honestly here, I don't see how Mack in his infinite wisdom could really believe all of that to be true. Now let me include in this post, I do love Mack. He's a University of Texas legend and if I were to hear that they had plans to build a statue of the man in front of DKR, I wouldn't complain. But his time has come and gone. I feel like it's evident in this very remark he's made. Mack has lost this team. He feels that he has done everything he can do but the players aren't responding. If the Head Coach loses his team, nothing but a coaching change is going to fix it. This isn't Hollywood where the players and Mack are going to undergo some grand epiphany, make sparks fly within the walls of DKR and march right into a Big 12 Championship and BCS Bid. This is reality and reality says Mack needs to let go of the reigns and ride off into the Burnt Orange sunset. Before it's too late.

remember the day we would make fun of stoops for this...wow i never thought i would see the day mack would do this as well..

It appears the sun is setting on Mack Brown's tenure on the 40. He's played the blame game in 2010 when he not only threw his coaches under the bus, he got in the driver's seat and ran them over himself. Brown's most tragic mistake was not firing Manny Diaz after last season and bringing in a more accomplished DC. This clearly cost Texas any shot of a MNC. This past Saturday afternoon I could hear the clock strike midnight for Cinderella. Mack is still in a bit of denial of his impending fate, but he must not forget the good things he did at Texas. He has his seat right behind DKR and will finish second to him in victories. He actually has won more bowl games than Royal. The legacy thing is what will make the transition run smooth. Mack doesn't want to make an ass of himself on the way out. He'll cry in private with Sally for a day or so and then emerge to help anyway he can with a smile on his face. I don't think 2013 ends well. In fact, I think Texas drops the next two games and winds up either in New York, San Diego or back in San Antonio. There simply comes a time when change is needed. Mack, it's time.

Wow...It does sound like he is if not throwing his players under the bus he is at least pushing them off the curb. Has he given up and is this the last gasp of a dying man?

No matter who he blames it all comes back to him. He hired the coaches and approved the recruiting of the players. If the coaches can't teach the players and motivate them then who is to blame?

Sounds like another excuse from Mack Brown....
There have been so many excuses that it's hard to remember which ones were actually used by him.

I guess my question would be why don't we have a huge margin for error? Is it because he thinks we're not very talented? Could it be we have schemes that don't allow for much error? I'm not sure what Mack meant, but I don't think I've ever heard a Saban or Briles say anything like this.

Where is this quote from? When did he say it? I'm not doubting that he did, because I think we have gotten to this point and Mack has shown character flaws numerous times. Just curious.

i think from his press conference today.

Briles puts his kids in the right position. Watching our offense operate, I just don't get that same feeling. Did our scripted gameplan really include Malcolm Brown running up the middle 6 times in a row to start the game? Is that putting kids in the right position to "make plays".

When a business fails in the real world, the CEO takes responsibility and goes down with the ship.

It is time for Mack to get his life preserver on.

In respect to the man, he did many great things for this University. I hate the term "fire" Mack Brown. Let him have his dignity and allow him to resign.

Big 12 Teleconference - Mack doesnt do pressers on Monday when we dont play the following Saturday

I guess the guys aren't working hard enough on walking over hurdles in practice to be in the right place to make plays.

You could put Case McCoy in position to make plays and he's going to make then 20% of the time. Some of your players are just incapable of making plays and that is definitely Mack's problem. As is the lack of any kind offensive identity.
