SignUp Now!the only big 12 game that was top in viewers in the Houston area was UT vs ousucks at number 3. the rest of the top was sec games. So no the big 12 doesn't own the Houston area TV market.I've said it before but UH and SMU add nothing to the conference. I said that about TCU, too but whatever. The Big 12 already controls TV markets in DFW and Houston. They already recruit there effectively. I don't care what Gov. Abbott says, expansion does not have to include UH.
We need to look east and alleviate some of the travel going to WVU. Remember, we and all Big 12 schools have a lot of other teams besides football. BYU is interesting and if they want to come we should take them...but looking into Cincinnati and Memphis (Fedex Univ.) or a Florida school makes more sense.

“We just want to be part of it,†Tilman Fertitta said. We’re not the University of Texas. I think the University of Texas is the finest school in the country. Just to be in a conference with the University of Texas, we would feel honored.â€
That is what I have been trying to say forever. I knew it instinctively but it helps to have numbers to back it up. Aggie, LSU and the SEC own the Houston college football tv market and have been doing quite well there in recruiting. There is a difference between saying you don't want to compete for recruits with UH and UH adds nothing to the conference.the only big 12 game that was top in viewers in the Houston area was UT vs ousucks at number 3. the rest of the top was sec games. I hear you...but I think we all know that Texas has had a bad few years on the field. When we contend we compete well with the SEC in Houston. Adding UH will not make our TV ratings better in the Houston area...based on your stats, it is all SEC and one UT game.the only big 12 game that was top in viewers in the Houston area was UT vs ousucks at number 3. the rest of the top was sec games. I don't think the Big 12 is dying or that Texas should bail...I want them to add the best possible schools if they add. I don't see Colorado St. adding value. The same goes for UH. We won't compete for TV share or recruits better in the Houston area if we add UH, we will do better if we win and compete for a national championship. That is what I have been trying to say forever. Here is the deal. Texas is going to have to continue to up its game. Since Texas has not been on its game since 2009 there have been a choir of voices that want to burn down the BIG 12 and to hell with any other university. Granted, I don't expect Texas fans to root for other teams in the conference but YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE. The only other obvious conference you could join you think you are too good for and you think you are too good for the one in which you currently reside.
The good news is that Texas' upside allows it to get very good quickly once they catch lightning in a bottle with the right coach. Would you all please sack up and have some positivity and confidence rather than being afraid to compete? Texas will always be Texas. Even when you aren't good you are important. When you are good you are dangerous and when you are great you cannot be surpassed.
Chip Brown reporting that he's hearing the Top 4 are Houston, Cincinnati, BYU, & Colorado State.I still think you have to do something for WVU. That means Memphis or Cincy, preferably the latter.
If you add BYU, which I think is a good possibility, then you have to consider a UH or geographically similar school. Something that isn't really east.
So that leaves you with one spot to bring in with Cincy, if you take four schools.
If you only take two schools, I see no benefit in adding BYU IF you still want to do something for WVU. BYU is a travel nightmare for WV.
The leaves me thinking that maybe its Cincy and UCF if only two are added, then BYU and Houston if four are added.

We will give Texas our entire share through 2020 if we are allowed to join the BIG 12.good grief.
these schools going on about their stadia and their budgets and what-not are whiffing. there's only one number that is going to count, and we're not hearing a word about that yet.
