Made by CoachKiss on another site.  This is part of a larger spreadsheet he keeps that shows Charlie Strong recruits (as head coach at both Louisville and UT) using their 247 composite ranking.

Top is current commits.
5th column is rank of 247 value in relation to other Charlie recruits
6th is the closest player ranked above them
7th is closest player ranked below
8th player notes.

The short version of all of this is that it shows this weekend's visitors are among the highest ranked recruits Strong has ever had.

Which makes sense as it is one of the reasons he took this job, right?

Another CB showing McCulloch to Texas (from Ohio St guy, see below)
That makes 6 in two days

And the last 7 in a row

Nonetheless the Hampster still thinks he is going aggy

The goal post has not moved at all, to have a chance to win a national championship a team must recruit at a certain level. Yes USC had the overall best classes but Texas also hit the mark for the data to be in position to win a national championship. Now of course the old saying any team can beat anyone on a single day is true but the NC winners historically have had the best recruiting classes. I never said the team with the best class wins. I said the teams that are near the top give themselves the best chance to win one and the data shows that very clearly.

Here is a pro tip for you. Use the ignore feature on this site if it has one. Also thanks for pointing out my typo errors. I feel hurt by it....

Go back and read my OP I was not comparing Bama and CLemson. (My point was CLemson and Bama both destroyed their semifinal opponent)  I was simply stating that both had recruited well and them getting the NC game can be expected on the data. Now with Clemson they're right at the cutoff off (47%) of their roster being 4 stars are better. The watermark seems to be 50%.

Well, if you read the posts of most everyone else here, they make sense. Yours seem to stand out. Now you know why.

Honestly Mike it's your controlling nature I guess that rubs me wrong. From telling me what I've posted hurts the program to this latest "100% wrong" nonsense, it's gotten pretty old. How long you've been here seems to be important to, well, you. But its been mistakenly posted as if its important to others, too.

Thanks for posting something legible this time. Didn't care to hurt you, just like reading to make sense.

How long has Dabo been a coach at Clemson? I know he wasn't a super mega recruiter overnight right?

The highlighted part seems odd and I have no idea what you're saying

It's a message board so I really could careless if I rub you the wrong way

Strong has said repeatedly that he thinks that all the team needs is depth on the OLine to be successful, so if we could some way reel in Hudson and Shack , I wonder if we can be one of those surprise teams

While I love back and forth comments, can we keep this thread focused on recruiting news? Especially now that the Dead period is over with and the Horns have a huge weekend ahead.

Also, I'm still hearing positive things regarding Hudson and the Horns. Aaron has reiterated things I've heard as well. Also, I know Christmas is over with, but Jones, Shark and Hudson are all I want. Well, Giles and Taylor as well. F it, I want them all.

Stanford back will be drafted ahead of him. Well ahead.
Yes he was very impressive.  McCaffrey was making people look silly in open field.  Best back I have seen since Barry Sanders.  Kid will win Heisman next year if he stays healthy.

Recruiting rankings don't matter only if you don't want to win national championships. Where is K-state, TCU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Arkansas? I know where. Not winning championships. Sorry sir your argument is 100% wrong.

1995 Nebraska (#15 in 1993,#5 in 1995)

1996 Florida (#6 in 1993, #2 in 1995)

1997 Nebraska/Michigan (Nebraska #5 in 1995 and number #9 in 1996 Michigan: #4 in 1994, #7 in 1995, #8 in 1996, #4 in 1997)

1998 Tennessee (#7 in 1998, #5 in 1997, #3 in 1996)

1999 Florida State (#5 in 1998, #1 in 1997, #5 in 1996)

2000 Oklahoma (#13 in 2000, and #25 in both 1997 and 1998 Rivals) *OU is the only program without a top ten class to win the title in Rivals history. But it did have 3 top 25 classes

2001 Miami (#2 in 2001, #9 in 2000, #8 in 1999)

2002 Ohio State (#7 in 2002, #4 in 2000, #2 in 1999)

2003 LSU/USC (LSU #1 class in 2003, #4 in 2001 USC #3 in 2003, #14 in 2000, #21 in 2001)

2004 USC (#3 class in 2003, #1 class in 2004)

2005 Texas (#1 class in 2002, #15 class in 2003 with only 18 recruits, which averaged highest star rating in country, #18 class in 2004 -- only signed 15) If Texas had signed 20 players in either of these classes, they would have ranked in the top five. The #1 class in 2002 was simply too large, with over 30 players).

2006 Florida (#2 in 2003, #10 in 2004, #2 in 2006)

2007 LSU (#1 in 2003, #1 in 2004, #7 in 2006, #4 in 2007)

2008 Florida (#2 in 2006, #1 in 2007, #3 in 2008)

2009 Alabama (#10 in 2007, #1 in 2008, #1 in 2009)

2010 Auburn (#10 in 2006, #7 in 2007, #4 in 2010) Auburn was #20 in 2008 and #19 in 2009

2011 Alabama (#1 in 2008, #1 in 2009, #5 in 2010, #1 in 2011)

2012 Alabama (#1 in 2009, #5 in 2010, #1 in 2011, #1 in 2012)

2013 Florida State (#7 in 2009, #10 in 2010, #2 in 2011, #6 in 2012, #10 in 2013)

2014 Ohio State (#11 in 2011, #4 in 2012, #2 in 2013, #3 in 2014)

2015 Bama ( #1 2012 #1 2013 #1 2014 #2 2015)
MBHorn,

You wont win this argument.  Here is why.

If Charlie lands a Top 10 class then it is:

"See doubters, Charlie is the man."

If Charlie recruits a decent class but not top 15 then it is:

"Stars do not matter, what matters is the development of those players.  Charlie has a proven track record of seeing special talent and he develops that talent.  Look at Louisville yaddi yadda"

This is pretty much called cyclical justification.

I am not trying to start another Charlie is not the man debate, just saying.

I will wait and see how this class ends on NSD.  He did it last year and he could do it again.

The secondary he is building with D. Davis, Hill, Elliot, and Boyd could go down as one of the best in our history and we have had some great db's.

Upcoming Recruiting "Periods"

Jan 31 - Quiet Period
During a quiet period, a college coach may only have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents on the college’s campus.  A coach may not watch student-athletes compete (unless a competition occurs on the college’s campus) or visit their high schools. Coaches may write or telephone college-bound student-athletes or their parents during this time.

Feb 1 - 4 (NSD Feb 3) - Dead Period
During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.

April 15 - May 31 - Evaluation Period
168 evaluation days (216 for U.S. service academies) (excluding Memorial Day and Sundays) selected at the discretion of the member institution and designated in writing in the office of the director of athletics:

An authorized off-campus recruiter may use one evaluation to assess the prospective student-athlete’s athletics ability and one evaluation to assess the prospective student-athlete’s academic qualifications during this evaluation period. If an institution’s coaching staff member conducts both an athletics and an academic evaluation of the prospective student-athlete on the same day during this evaluation period, the institution shall be charged with the use of an academics evaluation only and shall be permitted to conduct a second athletics evaluation of the prospective student-athlete on a separate day during this evaluation period.

Can't see the tweet

Holland apparently had talked to the dad, and that was the story

The aggies also supposedly reported the same thing

But Eric denied it via twitter

So the tweet was deleted

And unclear whether he will make it

Some people are saying he has already recorded his announcement (which will play on BR), while others are saying his announcement will be made live.

247's latest is that they like our chances with the Shark, Taylor, Christmas-Giles and Shackelford.

But they are calling our chances with Brandon Jones and Erick Fowler only 50/50

Their current %s for some of the visitors --

Eric Cuffee - 90
Jeffrey Mcculloch - 85
Stephon Taylor- 70
DC-G - 65

Erick Fowler - 50

Brandon Jones - 50

Dontavious Jackson- 40

The backup plan if Fowler falls through is OLB Aaron Hansford.

And Grayland Arnold for Eboh.
