SignUp Now!Ok I understand what you're saying now, unfortunately there's too many colleges in this state for us to ever return to that level unless we get a coach who recruits nationally like an Urban Meyer or HarbaughNot one of those school listed have ever won a national championship. You made my point. Lots of UT fans have settled for a middle of the pack team. I prefer to be in the Bama, FSU, Ohio State conversation. Also here is a good article on rankings and stars. There was a reason Bama & Clemson where in the finals and why they crushed OU and MSU. THE DATA IS CLEAR.

I can agree that you need a top notch recruiting class in order to compete at the highest level. You also have to take into account the development of those players. I believe if and I do mean IF Strong can at least go 10-2 and finish 11-2 with the bowl game, you will see a huge difference in recruiting. I believe if Texas can get back to that elite playing level that recruits will be at our doors instead of the other way around. We just have to give these kids a reason to come here, I'm a huge Strong supporter and I want him to succeed. But we have to get these recruits to believe in the program again.Recruiting rankings don't matter only if you don't want to win national championships. Where is K-state, TCU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Arkansas? I know where. Not winning championships. Sorry sir your argument is 100% wrong.

2005 Texas (#1 class in 2002, #15 class in 2003 with only 18 recruits, which averaged highest star rating in country, #18 class in 2004 -- only signed 15) If Texas had signed 20 players in either of these classes, they would have ranked in the top five. The #1 class in 2002 was simply too large, with over 30 players).

Very good post.I can agree that you need a top notch recruiting class in order to compete at the highest level. You also have to take into account the development of those players. I disagree. If Strong does not win in 2016 the UT program is going to lose entire decade. Like I said we are back in the 80's/90's era.
Not me, and it does drive me nuts if I let it...... Lots of UT fans have settled for a middle of the pack team......
I thought the argument was that if the right coach were hired, like Harbaugh or Herman, the program would turn around immediately. If Strong does not win in 2016 the UT program is going to lose entire decade. Like I said we are back in the 80's/90's era.
Which contradicts what Hamm said in an article a couple of weeks back (Hamm wrote that it was unlikely Jones mother would visit as she was pushing Brandon to A&M).Brandon Jones --
"My whole family is coming and honestly just the feel of being there because environment is big to me and just to have a good time and get some of the behind the scenes talk with the players and see if I could end up making an impact if I go there next year."
Have to be honest - I understand why they are going to do this, but it seems like a bit of a waste to do an in-home with a guy who's going to move into his dorm room Sat.Charlie Strong and Sterlin Gilbert will in-home with Shane Buechele Thursday morning.
Can't afford to have any setbacks, just gotta reassure him of his decision and lay out your plan of how you will use himHave to be honest - I understand why they are going to do this, but it seems like a bit of a waste to do an in-home with a guy who's going to move into his dorm room Sat.
Maybe its a geography thing?Have to be honest - I understand why they are going to do this, but it seems like a bit of a waste to do an in-home with a guy who's going to move into his dorm room Sat.
That is the key. Getting the coaching hire right next time if Strong does not work out.I thought the argument was that if the right coach were hired, like Harbaugh or Herman, the program would turn around immediately.
