Strong & Mattox have an in-home with Zach Shackelford Thurs afternoon

(Also has Bill Snyder & KSU OL coach Charlie Dickey in-home that morning)

He OVs to Austin this weekend

Classes start Tues (he gets an extra day courtesy of MLK Day)

Might as well just stay in Austin Sunday Night, wake up and go register

Guard or Center --“I really want to play as a freshman."

“I’ve always been intrigued with center.  It’s always been something I have wanted to doâ€.

Because Eboh went to Stanford?  Thats a lot of pressure to put on the kid.
No the fact that he is another Texas kid who may leave the state. I remember when Strong was hired he said. "We need to close the borders" Well he has not done a good job of that yet.

OK, I was drinking coffee when I read that, and some literally went up my nose

Not kidding

I guess I picked the wrong day to try and stop snorting coffee

Texas is always going to lose kids to Stanford - you can't close the borders on those kids.  Its the ones like Jordan Elliot and Greg Little that we should be disappointed/pissed off about.

Football Brainiacs --

– Jamar King | JUCO DT: We recently introduced you to May JUCO grad, defensive tackle Jamar King (Mendocino C.C.). King holds an offer from Alabama and is also being recruited by Ohio State. We’ve gotten word that the Texas staff likes King and may be close to pulling the trigger on an offer. I spoke with King yesterday and he said that his transcript was sent to Texas and that he’s been told that they will look over his transcript to ensure he will have the necessary credits to graduate in May. If all looks good, I expect an offer to happen soon. While King is being courted by other big programs, he’s let us know that he definitely sees the opportunity to play right away at Texas.

OVs only (there will be more in town on UOVs)

No Whaley or Eboh  this weekend confirmed

Southlake Carroll (TX) ATH/WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey – Texas is in his final 2 along with Cal and will announce his commitment on January 30th.

Belton (TX) OL Zach Shackelford – Committed to Kansas State and will either enroll at Texas or Kansas State on Monday.

Euless Trinity (TX) DT Chris Daniels – Committed to ou but is visiting Texas, Ohio State, and Tennessee. Has a family connection to Charlie Strong.

McDonough 35 (LA) DT Stephon Taylor – Recently told Texas is very likely the leader here.

Cibolo Steele (TX) DE Mark Jackson– Committed to aggy but is giving Texas and ou a hard look.

Manor (TX) DE/OLB Erick Fowler – Committed to LSU but has a family pull to Texas and is giving the Longhorns a hard look.

Aldine Davis (TX) LB Jeffery McCulloch – Looking like a Texas-Notre Dame battle with Alabama, Stanford, and aggy on the outside looking in.

Nacogdoches (TX) S Brandon Jones – Down to Texas, aggy, Oregon, and Baylor but this is a Longhorns-aggy battle..

Manvel (TX) S Deontay Anderson – Has a Top 3 of Texas, Ole Miss, and LSU. I believe Ole Miss leads as of today.

Manvel (TX) WR Reggie Hemphill – Committed to Texas and may take a visit or two but don’t worry about him flipping

Temple (TX) WR Davion Curtis – Committed to Texas after flipping from Georgia and is 100% solid.

Lewisville (TX) OL Denzel Okafor – Committed to Texas and won’t be taking any other visits.

Arlington Bowie (TX) OL Tope Imade – Committed to Texas and won’t take any other visits.

North Mesquite (TX) OT Jean Delance – Texas newest commit and is 100% solid to the Longhorns.
Madison Prep (LA) DE Malcolm Roach – Committed to Texas and may take some visits but I’m not worried about him flipping.

Flower Mound Marcus (TX) DE Andrew Fitzgerald – Committed to Texas and isn’t taking any other visits.

Destrehan (LA) DT Gerald Wilbon – Committed to Texas and is 100% solid.

He is probably counting Whaley or Eboh to get to 18

Can I assume you also believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible? Strong's done an excellent job of recruiting. Expecting no Texas recruit to leave the state because of Strong's stated his DESIRE to "lock down the state" is plain silly.

WTF does this even mean? But lets talk about recruiting. Yes Strong will will finish with a good class. But lets get real it won't be elite., It will probably be in the 12-15 ranges possible 10th depending who we finish with. I am truly amazed how low Texas fans have set the bar for Strong. Strong is getting paid top 8 money and we should expect elite results in every area of the program for that. Including recruiting and wins. Hell most Texas fans are excited about him getting us to 7-5 or 8-4 next yr. Unreal.

36 players on the Hornsports top 50 are currently committed. 12 are going out of state so far. Yes that is a little concerning.. Texas does not have one committed in the top 10. Yes that is concerning.  Texas has 2 kids committed in the top 35. yes that is concerning.

Lol guys, rankings don't mean shit, it's all about development and coaching , I thought you guys would've learned that by watching Connor Williams and Patrick Vahe play last year. The fact is that K-State, TCU, Baylor, Oregon, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and schools like that never have the top recruiting classes but they are consistently competitive because they have coaches that do a good job of developing their kids and putting them in positions to succeed. So you guys are wasting your time talking about rankings, because they don't mean anything. Only think rankings do is give fans bragging rights

And literally every credible analyst in college football believes that Texas is on the right track and will be back very soon

Not one of those school listed have ever won a national championship. You made my point. Lots of UT fans have settled for a middle of the pack team. I prefer to be in the Bama, FSU, Ohio State conversation. Also here is a good article on rankings and stars.  There was a reason Bama & Clemson where in the finals and why they crushed OU and MSU.  THE DATA IS CLEAR.
