While we won't agree, the truth will out wherever he ends up. If he flames out elsewhere as a RB then it will be obvious he outgrew the position. If he tears it up somewhere else it will be obvious that he was not used correctly here.
VY had success in the league right up until the point he sustained his first injury. Up until that point his freakish speed was too much for even NFL to handle. Once he lost a step and could not adjust to being more of a pocket QB, he no longer had the speed advantage. Plus Fisher hated him and benched him as soon as he could. Nonetheless there are tons of examples of college good that did not translate to NFL good.
And I don't fault Herman for wanting to implement his system, but if he gets here and realizes that he doesn't have the guys to run it (which he basically admitted in the last press conference), then he does deserve some blame for not properly adjusting. He made the same mistake Strong made, and the same mistake Mack made, in installing a system he didn't have the personnel for.
Plus, he's the head coach that doesn't want to call plays. So no one would fault him for going out and hiring an ace OC to handle that side of the ball. Ultimately he is the head coach and responsible for production on both sides of the ball. The offense was piss poor this year, and it's not just because they were "kids". If you don't want to fault him for wanting to implementing his system, or in not using the correct personnel to run it, then what do you fault him for?
