The Longhorns landed a commitment from Arizona State transfer and star running back Raleek Brown three days ago, bolstering a running back corps that saw four players leave for the transfer portal. Hollywood Smothers, the North Carolina State transfer and number two ranked running back in the transfer portal, flipped his commitment from Alabama to Texas today, giving the Longhorns essentially a one-two punch at the position.
Smothers, a 5-11, 195 lb. native of Charlotte, North Carolina, was a four-star prospect out of high school. He originally committed to the Oklahoma Sooners but entered the transfer portal following a short stint in Norman. He enrolled at NC State as a redhsirt freshman in 2024 and played two seasons in Raleigh before entering the portal again.
He amassed 1,510 yards on the ground on 249 carries with 12 touchdowns with the Wolfpack.
Smothers is the twelfth player that committed to the Longhorns from the transfer portal.
