Sophomore Quarterback David Ash was named the Davey O’Brien player of the week after leading the Longhorns to a 66-31 victory over Ole Miss in Oxford. The win gave the Longhorns their 3rd straight 3-0 start, Ash has started all three games this season and has quieted the QB controversy on the 40 acres for the time being. Ash was calm, cool and collected in the pocket on Saturday night as he went 19-23 for a career high 326 yards and four touchdowns. He had completed 15 consecutive passes at one point of the night.
David Ash and the Longhorns will get an extra week to prepare for the upcoming Big 12 schedule as the Longhorns have a bye week heading into a week 5 meeting with Oklahoma State in Stillwater. If Ash can continue to shine as the Longhorns make their way through the thick of the conference schedule, then the Horns will have a chance at being a surprise in the Big 12 this season. To this point of the season, Ash has been the man and is getting the credit that he deserves.
