Unfortunately it is apparent after looking at a few guys different projections; it all comes down to what happens in the Baylor game on Saturday. A win over Baylor would catapult them to 8 wins and probably push them to a late December bowl game.

In the past if someone would have ever told me a game against Baylor would ever decide a bowl destination for the Longhorns, I would only have laughed.

But this is the state of affairs in 2011. Baylor has a good team and has shown they are good enough to explode on anyone.  Baylor has an outstanding quarterback and finally an outstanding coach.  Coach Briles has brought the best out of them and they certainly deserve to be where they are.

The Longhorns are improving weekly.  They may have found their quarterback of the future, but let’s face it…they are not where they want to be. Bottom line is the Longhorns need to win Saturday to improve their bowl destination choices and close in on the team goal of 9 wins this season.  Certainly they are capable, but they are going to be facing a much improved Baylor team than those of the past.  It is going to take an all out effort to beat the Bears.

Here’s hoping Baylor does not get the opportunity to impact Texas’ bowl destination. I am impressed with the improving Baylor Bears, but I don’t want them to dictate where Texas will go bowling…
