While it is not entriely surprising it does come as a bit of a shock, especially since Robinson has maintained his commitment to Texas since he verbally committed back in February of 2012. He took an official visit to Alabama on January 18th and followed up with an OV to Texas a week later. There were concerns that Robinson was leaning towards USC but those soon dissipated after the US Army All-American Bowl game when Alabama became the #1 significant threat to flip Robinson’s commitment from Texas.
The Longhorns have lost commitments from several national top prospects including Robinson (Alabama), Dontre Wilson (Oregon) and Ricky Seals-Jones (Texas A&M).
