University of Texas junior guard Jordan Pope inked his name in Texas Basketball history on Thursday night, setting an individual record in the Longhorns’ 98-62 win over the University of New Orleans. Pope, a transfer from Oregon State, scored 42 points which registers as the best by a single player in Moody Center history. It is also best for seventh most in a single game in Texas history. 24 of his points came from beyond the arc, which is also a career high for Pope.

Senior forward Arthur Kaluma registered 15 points on the night and 10 rebounds in his 28 minutes played. It marked Kaluma’s third double-double of the season.

Chendall Weaver also reached double-digits in scoring with 12 points in 26 minutes played.

Texas jumped out to a 16-0 lead before the Privateers scored their first points of the game at the 12:22 mark. The Longhorns led by as many as 22 points before taking a 16 point lead into the locker room at the half.

The second half proved to be too much for New Orleans, as they could never cut into the Texas lead which hit a game-high 44 points with three minutes left. The98-62 win improved the Longhorns to 10-2 on the season.

Rodney Terry’s team will next welcome Northwestern State at the Moody Center on December 29th.
