On Saturday, the Texas Longhorns will host the Florida Gators. Today, our Devon Messinger and Dylan DeRaud discuss their scouting report of the Gators in the YouTube video above.

Messinger’s Scouting Report of the Florida Offense:

The common theme for the Florida Gators this year has been injuries, and you can see this particularly on the offensive side of the ball. On Saturday, expect Yale transfer quarterback Aidan Warner to start for the Gators due to injuries to the team’s typical starter and backup. At running back, typical starter Montrell Johnson Jr continues to be impacted by an injury of his own and is questionable for Billy Napier’s squad. As a result, while the Gators have talent and athleticism at skill positions, both the passing and running games are big question marks entering Saturday’s contest.

So far this season, the Gators have the 57th-ranked scoring offense with 29.5 points per game. Unfortunately for Florida, the team has been middle of the road in multiple categories, including passing offense (56th-ranked) and rushing offense (83rd-ranked).

DeRaud’s Scouting Report of the Florida Defense:

On paper, not much stands out for this Florida team in terms of what they do defensively in comparison to other teams. Defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong leads a unit that ranks 74th in the country in scoring defense with 24.9 per game and ranks towards the bottom half in rush defense and pass defense. However, what the Gators have hung their hat on in the past five games is forcing 10 turnovers and capitalizing off the pressure their front seven has forced. Against Georgia, Florida forced 3 Carson Beck interceptions and will look to do the same against Quinn Ewers. Players to watch out for will be free safety Trikweze Bridges who leads the team with 42 tackles and defensive lineman Tyreak Sapp who has been a game wrecker with 3.5 sacks and 5.5 tackle for losses.
