James Simon is indeed a prime target for the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class. With his exceptional talent and impressive stats, it’s no surprise that Texas is making a strong push to bring him on board. With his official visit set for June 21st, the Longhorns have a significant opportunity to solidify their pursuit of this highly sought-after prospect.

Simon’s impressive performance at Calvary Baptist High School in Shreveport, LA, has not gone unnoticed by college football recruiters. Standing at 5’11” and weighing 200 pounds, Simon possesses a powerful build that complements his exceptional speed and agility on the field. His junior season showcased his ability to dominate on the ground, amassing 1,600 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, while also contributing 214 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

What sets Simon apart is his elite running technique, characterized by a killer jump cut and the ability to swiftly change direction, making him a nightmare for opposing defenses. His knack for finding running lanes and making decisive cuts against the grain demonstrates his football IQ and field awareness.

With offers from programs like LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Notre Dame, Simon has no shortage of suitors vying for his talents. However, it seems that Texas has positioned itself as a frontrunner in his recruitment efforts, with insiders reporting that Simon is leaning heavily towards the Longhorns.

His recent unofficial visit to the Longhorns’ spring game on April 20th likely provided him with firsthand experience of the program’s culture and facilities. And with an official visit scheduled for June 21st, Texas has the opportunity to make a lasting impression and secure Simon’s commitment to the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class.
