In total there will be 13 current and former Longhorns competing in 2012 London Olympics. Here is the list:
Swimming and Diving
Ricky Berens (USA) – 400m Freestyle Relay, 800m Freestyle Relay…Qualified for 2012 Olympic team by finishing third in the 200m free..All total has over 30 medals from NCAA Championships to being a part of the world record setting, Gold Medal relay team at the 2008 Olympics.
Susana Escobar (Mexico) – 400 Freestyle…An Olympic veteran of the 2008 games, she will represent Mexico in the 2012 games.  She was a long shot to make a qualifying time but the UT grad made it despite numerous injuries.
Brendan Hansen (USA) – 100m Breaststroke…Brenden was finished with swimming, but the twice Olympic athlete made a comeback and when he made the team he celebrated during the victory ceremony by kneeling down like a pro wrestler and giving the “hook `em horns” sign..Hell yes Brendan!
Kathleen Hersey (USA) – 200 Butterfly..Kathleen was the World Champion in the 2011 FINA championships and qualified by a strong second place finish at the Olympic trials.
Christian Schurr (Mexico) – 200 Breaststroke…Mexico is only sending five swimmers to the Olympics and Schurr joins Escobar as the two UT athletes to make the team.
Track and Field
Michelle Carter (USA) – Shot put..Michelle is currently an Ovilla resident and a well-known name in USA track and field..Three time time USA Champion, this is her first Olympics..
Marquise Goodwin (USA) – Long Jump..We’ll miss him in football but he won the Olympic Trials with a personal best and on his last jump..Hook EM!
Trey Hardee (USA) — Decathlon…Trey is the current 2011 World Champion and is heading to his second Olympics as one of the favorites.
Leo Manzano (USA) – 1500m…Leo won the 2012 Olympic Trials after finishing second in 2008. Excellent chance for a medal.
Allison Peter (U.S. Virgin Islands) – 100m, 200m…Allison is a St Croix native and a Sophomore at UT. She owns the USVI best time in the 100m.
Sanya Richards-Ross (USA) – 400m, 200m…Sanya is married to former Longhorn and current NY Giant Aaron Ross. She helped him run a 4.41/40 at the combine and told David Letterman that she is definitely faster than Aaron..Smack talk to a Giant..Love it..
Christy Udoh (Nigeria) – 200m..A long shot for a medal Christy had this to say. “I find it an honor to represent my country at the African Championships and it makes me even more excited to compete in the London Summer Games,” Udoh said.  “I am extremely excited because this is an opportunity I’v been wanting to fulfill since I was a child and my dream finally came true.  I’m so happy and blessed to have this opportunity.”
Melaine Walker (Jamaica) – 400m hurdles..Already an Olympic champion she won her nations trials championship and is a favorite to win the gold in London.
Let us all give out a big “Hook Em Horns” for the 2012 Longhorn Olympic squad.
