Steve Sarksian believes in building his program through high school recruiting, but the third year coach of the Longhorns is not afraid to utilize the transfer portal to fill voids left by the departure of key players. This holds particularly true at the wide receiver position, as Sarkisian has already added Houston’s Matthew Golden and Alabama’s Isaiah Bond to the 2024 roster. On Tuesday evening, the talent-rich wide receiver room grew even more, this time with the addition of Oregon State’s Silas Bolden.
Bolden entered the transfer portal on January 1st and visited Austin last weekend before announcing his commitment. He led the Beavers in receiving this season with 746 yards on 54 receptions with five touchdowns. Bolden, who is 5-8 and weighs 160 lbs. committed to the Longhorns over a host of other programs including USC, Washington, Kansas State and Utah among others. He possesses elite speed which will benefit Jeff Banks’ special teams unit in the return game.
