Dominique Jones and Ahmad Howard, backup tight ends for the University of Texas, have been ruled academically ineligible and did not accompany the team on the trip to San Diego for the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl. Jones and Howard have both seen very limited playing time this year. The Longhorns will rely on Blaine Irby, D.J. Grant and Barrett Matthews to fill the tight end position when the Longhorns play the Cal Golden Bears on Wednesday.
