Texas DL T’Vondre Sweat named Bednarik Award Semifinalist

The Chuck Bednarik Award is presented to the best defensive player in college football. Texas defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat made the list of semifinalists for the award on Monday, the Maxwell Football Club announced.

Sweat, who anchors the Longhorns’ defensive line, has 35 tackles (15 solo) and 7.5 tackles for loss. Texas ranks 8th nationally in rushing defense and gives up just 90.1 yards on the ground each game.

The semifinalist list of 17 players will be whittled down to three on November 28th. The winner of the award will be announced on December 8th at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
