University of Texas Men’s Basketball head coach Sean Miller inked a pair of international stars on Wednesday, strengthening the team’s roster ahead of the upcoming season. Forward Declan Duru Jr. and center Lewis Obiorah made their transition to the 40 Acres official, signing Athletic Scholarship Agreements to play for Miller and the Longhorns.

Duru, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward from Munich, Germany, played for Real Madrid B and the Real Madrid U19 team last season. In the 2024-25 season, he appeared in seven games for Real Madrid U19, averaging 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 25.0 minutes per game, while shooting 49.2% from the floor and 41.9% from three-point range. Duru also played in 17 games for Real Madrid B, where he averaged 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game.

Recently, Duru helped Germany achieve a 6-1 record and win a silver medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Lausanne, Switzerland (June 28-July 6). He scored in double figures in six of the seven games, averaging 11.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 28.6 minutes per game, while shooting 52.4% from the floor. The previous summer, Duru led Germany to a perfect 7-0 record and a gold medal at the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket Championship in Tampere, Finland.

In the 2023-24 season, Duru contributed to the Real Madrid U18 team’s victory in the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament. He also led the Real Madrid U16 team to two Spanish Championships in 2022-23 and helped the Real Madrid U14 squad win the Spanish Championship in 2021.

Obiorah, who played at Barking Abbey Basketball Academy in London last year, will join the Longhorns as a true freshman for the 2025-26 season.

Standing at 7-foot-1 and weighing 245 pounds, Obiorah is a center from London, England. He played under head coach Rikki Broadmore at Barking Abbey in the Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL), which showcases the top under-19 players in the country. Obiorah earned MVP honors in the EABL championship finals, leading Barking Abbey to the title last year. During the 2024-25 season, he averaged 10.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game.

Obiorah will also be competing with Great Britain’s U20 National Team at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket Championship Division B from July 11-20 in Yerevan, Armenia.
