A lot has happened over the past week or so in Longhorn sports. From having a top 10 recruiting class in football to Women’s Volleyball winning a National Championship, Longhorn athletics have been making headlines during the holiday season. Let’s take a look at all that’s happened:
Texas Women’s Volleyball not only defeated but swept the Louisville Cardinals in 3 sets to take home the National Championship title for the 2022 season. It’s the team’s first championship since 2012 and the program’s 3rd ever national title. For more information on the game,
The Texas Men’s Basketball Team has stayed hot with Interim Head Coach Rodney Terry now at the wheel. Since being without suspended HC Chris Beard, the Horns have gone 4-0 and are now 11-1 on the season and ranked 6th in the nation. During Terry’s time, the Longhorns defeated Rice 81-87 in OT, Stanford 62-72 and the, at the time, 10-1 Ragin’ Cajuns of LA-Lafayette 72-100 (!). The Horns defeated Texas A&M-Comm on Tuesday night 97-72 behind Marcus Carr’s career high 41 points. Up next Texas begins Big 12 play by travelling to Oklahoma on the 31st to take on the Sooners in a Red River Showdown.
Stay tuned for more Longhorn sports updates as the week goes on.
