The Texas Longhorns (15-3, 2-3 Big 12) hope to ride the momentum of Saturday’s upset win over No. 9 Baylor when they face No. 11 Oklahoma (15-3, 3-2 Big 12) on Tuesday evening. The Longhorns will not have the luxury of playing in front of a home crowd this week, as they begin a two-game road stretch against the Sooners followed by a trip to Provo to face a ranked BYU Cougar team.
Oklahoma has won their last two games, defeating West Virginia in Norman and Cincinnati on the road. Their three losses on the season have come at the hands of North Carolina, TCU and Kansas – all on the road. Porter Moser’s team is a perfect 11-0 on the season at the Noble Center, but the Longhorns have won their last four games in Norman and six of the last seven overall.
Siena transfer guard Javian McCollum paves the way for the Sooners on the court, scoring 14.9 points and 4 assists per game. Sophmore guard Otega Oweh is a scoring threat as well, averaging double-digits in scoring at 14.1 points per game. Oklahoma as a team averages 79.3 points per game and allows 65.1 per game.
Max Abmus, graduate transfer guard from Oral Roberts, leads the Longhorns in scoring with 17.7 points per game. Graduate forward Dylan Disu is picking up where he left off last season in the Longhorns’ run to the Elite Eight. After rehabbing a foot injury in the offseason, Disu is now back in the starting lineup and is averaging 14.7 points per contest.
Junior guard Tyrese Hunter and sophmore forward Dillon Mitchell are both averaging double-digits in scoring per game, with 12.6 and 11 points respectively.
The Longhorns average 77.2 points and give up 67.4 points per game.
The last meeting between Texas and Oklahoma took place in Austin (February 18, 2023) with the Longhorns defeating the Sooners 85-83 in OT.
Oklahoma leads Texas in the all-time series 57-46.
