UPDATE:
It appears that De’Vondre Campbell has NOT committed to the Longhorns just yet, per Jason Suchomel over at Orangebloods.com. This is a bit odd since Campbell’s own school, Hutchinson Community College, released the news last night. The release has since been retracted and it appears Campbell is still uncommitted to any school and will continue to participate in the recruiting process with a handful of schools that attract his interest.
One thing can certainly be said about Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell: He likes UT. The Texas Longhorns received a verbal commitment on Tuesday from Hutchinson, who had been a solid Tennessee commit since early May. Campbell is a 6-5, 225 lb. redshirt freshman and plays outside linebacker for the Blue Dragons. He was offered a scholarship by the Texas staff last month and played in all 12 games for Hutchinson this season and logged a total of 88 tackles.
Campbell becomes the second JUCO commit of the 2013 class for Texas and adds exceptional speed to a linebacking corps that has been bombarded by injury this season. Mack and company continue to take advantage of JUCO talent which has already yielded results with current players Donald Hawkins and Brandon Moore. Campbell certainly liked orange but it appears burnt orange was more of his flavor.
