The Longhorns and Cyclones will meet on Saturday night in Ames, Iowa and the stakes are high for both programs. The Longhorns have surged as of late, despite losing in the final seconds against the #3 Sooners in Norman on Monday night. Shaka Smart’s players have found an equilibrium on the court that takes advantage of solid defense and an array of players that consistently show an improved game. Since Cam Ridley’s foot injury which sidelined him indefinitely late last year, Texas big man Prince Ebeh has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. Ebeh is averaging 9.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Iowa State lost in OT on Wednesday in Lubbock 85-82 and looks to right the ship against Texas at home, where they hold a 9-4 advantage. Senior Cyclone star Jameel McKay (6’9, 225 lbs.) was suspended indefinitely by head coach Steve Prohm last week but is expected to play off the bench tonight against the Longhorns. McKay’s return to the team will help the Cyclones in the rebounding department.

Texas has road wins over ranked West Virginia (#6) and Baylor (#15). Iowa State has home wins over ranked Cincinnati (#23) and Oklahoma (#1) teams. The Longhorns are 4-3 against AP Top-25 teams this season and look to improve their tournament resume with another road win in Ames.
