Today’s game in Fayetteville between the third ranked Texas Longhorns (8-1, 4-1) and the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-4, 3-3) will mark the 80th meeting all-time between these two former Southwest Conference rivals. The Horns and Hogs last met in 2021, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, with Arkansas sending the Longhorns home with a 40-21 defeat. That was Steve Sarkisian’s first season at the helm in Austin. He will lead his team there again today with 11 players that made the trip in 2021, with 9 of them starting on either side of the ball.

The rivalry dates back to 1894, with the Longhorns leading the series all-time 56-23. Texas has fared well historically in Fayetteville notching a 26-10 record. Sam Pittman’s team needs one more win to become bowl eligible for the fourth time in five seasons. The Longhorns need to keep winning to achieve their preseason goal of playing for an SEC Championship and making an appearance in the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive year. The stakes are high for both teams, but the Razorbacks would like nothing more than to essentially ruin Texas’ season with an upset win in front of a home crowd.
