Mack no likey this sort of stuff.

According to @max_olson: Newton RB Kevin Shorter says he's still committed to Texas. Told me he wants to "enjoy the recruiting process" by taking visits."

If I had a dollar ever time I heard that from a recruit.....

Shorter's videos are really impressive. Like some of the better highlights I've seen in a very long time.

He'll probably go aggy. And that still won't signal to the powers that be that something is very, very wrong. I mean, if Mack can't recruit what can he do?

I think we sometimes forget that these are high school kids (some with less resources than the average family). Many of them just want to experience the recruiting process to its fullest (which includes travelling to other states and being hosted by other schools). I never agreed with Mack's statement about recruiting...... It was a no-win statement. Shorter just wants to take a few trips to experience and live life. He's still committed.

Larry Porter had a talk with him tonight about it, I'm told.

Consider him gone. He was a bit of a surprise commitment when he came in.

Arkansas doesnt make sense, theyve got a stud youngster (and BB isnt turning that place into Wisconsin)....

Although I absolutely agree with your premise upon this subject bbdude, I must say that this controversial strategy, should basically fall back upon the player. You are correct to mention the relevance as per the "assorted" backgrounds of all prospective recruits. However, the average "recruit" these days, just so happens to be a bit more "well versed" than what they used to be.

These recruits, are hereby afforded an array of counselors, coaches, and other school officials (not to mention family members) that very often are advising these kids around the clock. Not to mention, that when they decide to "commit" to UT, they are hereby very aware of Mack Brown's very distinctive policies.

I personally believe, that when a "committed recruit decides to start "testing" the waters upon this fashion... then I believe that he just lives for the "attention" that this "thrill ride" shall indeed bring him. No matter the consequences.

i agree bbdude, i didnt like Mack's no visit policy. no other big time program does it bc it doesnt work. on the other hand, why commit when you want to take visits and have fun?

i dont blame any of the 14 class to look around. you dont know who ur HC coach or position coach will be.

if what goes on during the official visits that I've read about and heard, I don't blame any young man for wanting to "enjoy the process" especially on someone else's dime. I also know there are those out there that are of the opinion that he shouldn't have already committed if he wanted to take other visits. When else in life are most of these young Men hoping to have this many national level suitors interested in them.

Someone with a set of balls needs to put Brown on the spot with this and with Bryce English taking the ND visit and get a response. He's never backed off the no visit policy....

I know that when a man gives his word that is suppose to mean something. I am not going to worry about an 18 year old kid who wants to see the world. In the end he will know what an honor it is to play at Texas. He will also know just how great the Texas program is and will be in the future. My friends y'all have a great week

How can Mack enforce a "no-visit" policy when he knows he is probably gone. Lame duck coaches can't do @#$%.

Which is exactly why he should be called out on it. He flung down the gauntlet a few months ago and now this could be the third commitment to walk away since.

Actually I think he's softened up on the no visit policy for a few guys in recent years. I can't think of who but it seems like he's not yanked the offer on a rare occasion here and there.

The policy. like Mack is totally outmoded. It was effective at one time, but then so was Mack Brown.
