The chicken little brigade at OB is losing their shit that Shaun Robinson committed to TCU.   Of course this is the same crowd that screams the Big XII sucks. . . so they are pissed a BigXII school is landing good talent????

Keep in mind that SR is a '17 kid who likely doesn't sniff the field (and then as a clip board carrier) till 2018.

2018 will be CFS' 5th year and he'll either be our guy or the fan base will be looking for N-E-X-T. . .but not so fast my friends, it seems Sam Ehlinger from Westlake, #10 in the early LSR reporting (could we get a link to HS's top 50?) is ready to commit. . . .

So I got to thinking .. .how has Watson/CFS done since they arrived.

2014 Heard. . .#1 QB in the state.  Granted, they don't get the win but do get the save. . ..they did close him afterall with tOSU chasing

2015 #13 Athlete in the Country, Kai was likely the r #3 QB in state had he been a Texas kid with a very nice prospect on the grey shirt approach.  Granted, gave up an even better QB prospect to make a run at the #1 QB instate but that played out very well.

2016  Shane Buchele. . #1 in state QB and an Elite 11 invitee. . .

2017   Sam E (assume he commits and he WANTS TEXAS)  #2 in state Top 10 instate prospect, excellent QB

Guys, that's better than Mack/GD ever did

The chicken little crowd is busy throwing bricks at the mirror into which they constantly stare.

I've never been a paying member of OB so it looks like I'm missing out on some quality meltdowns.

I'm not gonna worry about the QB position too much right now, especially when it relates to Robinson. Did I/we want him, absolutely. Is the program going to crumble without him? Hell no.

I like the guys we're bringing in now. Dual threat types that can do a little of everything pretty well.

The reason I'm not an OB member is because the good majority of that crowd sees things from a small picture perspective instead of a big picture perspective. They overreact to everything, whether positive or negative. I'm sure this is the same crowd that overreacted about this time last year when Strong ended up pulling in a top 10 national class. Recruiting is a long process, if you react to every little thing that happens in recruiting it's probably not something you want to follow (especially with Strong's recruiting style).

The other thing, I'm not sure how Texas fans can be pissed with our QB recruiting. We landed Locksley a composite 4 star QB that had an insane offer list. We have the #6 overall dual threat QB in Buechelle currently committed. We were also able to get Merrick to greyshirt with programs like Florida offering him a scholarship from the get go.

Like I said, the OB crowd overreacts to everything because they look small picture instead of big picture. If the OB crowd wants to bitch about something it shouldn't be about QB recruiting.

Fans bitch. It's not just an OB thing. Bitch about the conference, the AD, the schedule, coaches, recruiting, play calling, beer sales, Godzillatron, bunting and another million things.

On that site, this site, the barbershop, sports bars and any place two or more gather.

Fans bitch.

Don't forget jet pack guy.....well, he deserves it.

So you are pretty much saying if there is one position UT is stacked at, it is QB. Lol.

No, I'm saying the current staff has recruited the QB position well.

There's no way to determine if we are "stacked" because it all depends on how the QBs develop once they get here. Locksley and Buechelle are good gets at QB. To argue the staff hasn't recruited the QB position well is nonsense.

Like I said, the OB crowd views things from a short term perspective. Losing Robinson is the end of the world because it just happened.

They did get VY so until Strong gets his equivalent, I give the nod to MB/GD.
and Colt. Not that he was a prized blue-chipper when MB/GD recruited him.

It's all in how they develop, but on paper it looks promising with Heard, Locksley, Merrick, and Buechele

I agree. I'm a huge fan of Heard. As I have stated before, I heard that was one of Strong's top priorities when he came here, secure his commitment.

I think he is going to do really well as QB given time and a decent OL.

Ehlinger is ranked #11 in the early Top 50. For reference, the ranking is listed under "Recruiting" on the main horizontal menu at the top of every page.

I remember the OB.com meltdown in 2007 when Jermie Calhoun committed to OU. Texas was doomed & Mack couldn't even capitalize on an NC.
QB is not a position I would worry about in the '17 class to begin with. It's loaded. If we land Ehlinger, Mascorro, Davis, or Wallace we are going to be in good shape IMO. The class I would be worried about landing a QB is in the '16 class because there aren't many great QBs in Texas (luckily we've landed Buechelle).

Brewster had to talk Mack into taking Vince. And then Mack had to be talked into taking him as a QB instead of an athlete.

Brewster is why Vince came to Texas.
