SignUp Now!There is no certainty in that through 18 games.Where is the improvement since last week. When have we seen Charlie Strong put three games together showing improvement from week to week to week? The Kris Boyd shows a lack of focus and a lack of discipline. The team is a disaster in every aspect of the game.
Continuing to go in the wrong direction will not get the program headed in the right direction. If you watch any of Charlie Strong's press conferences, he is unquestionably a man with no answers.
The path forward is uncertain. What is for certain is that Charlie Strong isn't leading the program forward.
SHA,I know folks want someone to yell at. They'd love to yell at Charlie, ridicule him, etc., so they find that those who aren't as pissed off, pretend they're Charlie's support staff, and vent away.
I understand, I was rather bothered a little too much earlier.
DKR didn't just drop out of the sky and start winning. Neither did Mack. Mack, IMO, committed worse offenses. He pooped all over the Cotton Bowl multiple times.
As Chris said above, you can't fire Charlie. That would make things much worse now and in the long term. Charlie is a great coach. Let's give him a chance to be great. What else are you going to do? Good thing we didn't get so worked up that we fired DKR in year 2.
I agree with the thoughts shared here that say Charlie didn't have this team well prepared for TCU. But we've seen worse. We've seen cowering in the Cotton Bowl. We've been accused of being afraid, timid, soft, yada yada yada. That doesn't happen anymore. We're tough. We're fighting. But we're young.
Kris Boyd – that's who he is. Unfortunately, you saw the ugly part of Boyd today. I don't like it. I'd bench him. But a kid who literally had his way with his opposition for the past 4 years and was accustomed to winning, winning, and winning – he's having a hard time digesting this losing thing. Especially losing bad. IMO, you want a kid who can't stomach losing. But no, you don't circumvent and betray the coach, the team, the program in the locker room at half time. We'll see how Charlie handles this and how the kid responds.
I hear you, DMAC, and the rest of you who are pointing out our obvious flaws.SHA,
I agree with most of what you said but the unpreparedness of this team is glaring. Even VY mentioned why are there no slants to counter the blitz and why the receivers are all running GO routes. Maybe that's a young Heard not calling an audible or maybe its the coaches not doing their job. You can only blame so many players for lack of pride or mental mistakes before its the entire team of kids making the same mistakes over and over then it becomes a coaching problem.
I agree Strong is a great person. I love the guy and it breaks my heart to watch him sweat out post game conferences BUT whatever he is doing isnt working and more of the same will probably result in the same.
We have been blown out not due to lack of talent but poor execution and the same damn old mistakes over and over. We keep pressing this Texas team doesn't have enough talent but I am not so sure. K-State wins with what 30 walkons? Now that is good coaching. I know coach strong was a great DC but that doesn't always transfer over to Head Coach. His only success as HC was Louisville and now I wonder how much of that was Teddy making him look good just as VY made Greg Davis and Mack Brown look good. Michigan is winning under first year coach Harbaugh. Other teams have done the same what makes us so special that we must have 4 years? Did Snyder need 4 years when he came out of retirement, nope. When has K-State ever had a good recruiting class? Never.
I like Strong and feel for him but he picked his staff and they are not getting it done. Its actually regressing. This team was better vs UCLA last year than it is now. IMO Strongs biggest flaw is his decision making in the staff. Wickline with Watson was just a bonehead combo. Go get some established Coordinators FFS.
We didnt have back to back losing seasons, losing seasons in three of six years and suffer 5+ TD blowouts in half our games during the mid 80s to late 90s. The Charlie Strong era is the worst two year span in over half a century.Man, how did some of yall survive the mid 80's to the late 90's?
You tell Charlie to fire his staff. You bring Greg Robinson back as DC.I hear you, DMAC, and the rest of you who are pointing out our obvious flaws.
But you don't throw the captain overboard in the middle of the ocean when the ship is sinking unless you are sure you have a better plan. Fire Charlie? Fire his staff?
And who would you replace them with at this point?
How long would you give them?
Give me a good answer to those two questions and I might support you.
For now though, let's just hang in there and have (a lot of?) patience.
The season is over. The only question is whether the team goes 1-11, 2-10 or 3-9. Who really cares who is coaching out the season at this point. You tell Charlie to fire his staff. You bring Greg Robinson back as DC.
You go get one of TCU's OC guys, or hire Briles son to run your offense.
You let those guys hire the asst they feel they need to run their O And D.
If he refuses you fire him like they fired Rick Barnes when he refused to clean house.
You go get Morris, Clemson guy, or back up the truck and ask Briles what he wants and tell him he can't bring that DC he has at Baylor.
Hope Philadelphia wants rid of Chip this year.
How long ??? You tell them they have four years to fix it as long as they don't put an embarrassment on the field like Charlie is doing.
BudreauReye! This thread is in need of some of your positive reinforcementRandolf! you have breathed in too many fumes from GBT's burning hair!
Might work, GBT, but I asked for a good answer, not a dream. You tell Charlie to fire his staff. You bring Greg Robinson back as DC.

No one thinks Norvell will be OC next year. Charlie has already proven he doesn't have a clue how to hire offensive coaches. His specialty, defense, has produced what is pretty much a lock to be the worst defense in the history of the program. We bring in a new OC and after we struggle (because Charlie has yet again brought in the wrong OC) people say it is a matter of continuity, but in 2017 we will be GREAT!Randolf! you have breathed in too many fumes from GBT's burning hair!
