Charlie Strong is now a defensive analyst for Nick Saban.
Yeah, that was official in March and I didn't realize he stepped down from Miami because Cristobal wouldn't make him their DC.

I forgot he was at Alabama in 2020 before he was on Meyer's staff at Jacksonville.

Guy has been disastrous since taking the Texas job.

I never heard about it. Sorry. He was one of the hottest names out there when we brought him to Austin. Like you said, it's been tough for him since he left.

If the Big12 can't add someone like Oregon or Washington, who anchors this conference in football?

Really has more of a feel of a group of 5 conference that is really good at basketball.

Even the programs here who have been pretty good at football, can they continue to recruit at the same level with the overall prestige of the conference taking a hit? Can they keep up in this regard with SEC and B1G teams widening the income gap?

Seems like we are heading towards 3 legitimate football conferences right now SEC, B1G and ACC and of course the ACC is doing their best to hang on.

Two 8 team division doesn't work very well.  If you assume you have 9 conference games, then 7 are playing in your division,  and only 2 from the other.  The net is you would only play teams in the other division every 4 years.

A 9 game schedule where you have 3 anual games, and you play every other team every other year seems much better.  For a 16 team BIG12 this does require more travel,  but if you are far from the geographic center then no matter what the geography is working against you.

I wouldn't think the BIG12 would take SMU. I would expect them to take whichever 3 or 5 best PAC teams are available to them( Colorado already decided)
Why not take SMU?
