This post deserved its own thread. Good stuff for the debate.

Texas doesn't give a crap about anyone, everyone knows this! However, the state of Texas cares about basic economics and tax revenues from games.
Hypothetically speaking of course;

Let's go over Texas' scheduling first

Texas leaves to the Big 10 with no one else and the big 10 is now at 16 teams!

This means the state will potentially force Texas to continue it's RRR and possibly one game a year alternating between TTech and Baylor. Everyone knows the A&M and Texas rivalry is coming back, which means Texas can potentially have 3 OOC games out of the big 10, that are not going to be cupcake teams!

Texas would be added to the West portion of the big ten, formally known as the Big 10 legends

-Illinois

-Iowa

-Minnesota

-Nebraska

-Northwestern

-Purdue

-Wisconsin

-Texas

Which means Texas' closest away game would be Nebraska, 836 miles away!

Their farthest game will be Minnesota 1,160 miles away.

- Ask WVU how that travel time has been treating them!

-Also those big 10 teams aren't notorious for traveling other than Nebraska and maybe Iowa!

Second thing to bring up is basic state economics and tax revenue!

If Texas says Cya big 12, that leaves TTech, TCU, and Baylor all out looking for new conferences! Which conferences can they join you may ask, well they will need to join a conference that travels well with their teams!

Pac 12- No, they do not travel well at all. Trust me I lived in Pac - 12 country.

SEC - Yes, but good luck!

Big 10- Only adding Texas with no package deal.

ACC - Kinda, only a handful of teams travel for football, your BBall arenas will be packed though.

MWC - LOL are you serious?

AAC - Lets hope they don't go here.

A&M was allowed to go to the SEC mainly because their fans travel very well and are relatively close! Which brings in tons of revenue for the state (A&M and Alabama).

To sum it up, the State capital of Texas (2 blocks away from the campus) would never allow Texas to leave without making sure their little brothers, Baylor, TTech, and TCU, all have a home! Football is a good portion of Tax revenue for the state of Texas!

To the Big10...no thank you.

Damn you DeLoss, damn you. Florida St. and Clemson would have been great schools to pursue. Seems like a pipe dream now.

Hypothetically speaking

OU- yes that game would continue

Baylor/Tech- not necessarily

aggy- not necessarily

Good post at the top. Makes sense in many way, unless ur Deloss then you havent made sense in a while.

Unfortunately, Fsu/Clemson/the U are a pipe dream, at least for 10+ years.

Texas cares more than the Cornhuskers, aggy, mizzou and Colorado. They stood up for their partners in the Big 12 South after NU bolted and it looked like the conference was on life support. Like it stood up for TT and BU in '92-'93. Texas cares as much or more than any other school in CFB.

The original post started with "Texas is playing the Big 12 for fools." I'm not sure why we're having a debate based on a post that starts off like that. I've never been to BlueGoldSports but if they're anything like BlueGoldNews they're lacking in credibility, IMO.

UT to the B1G seems like a very remote possibility.

ACC is better in football, basketball, baseball and every other sports category. and in the type of sports we play(no hockey). Academics may be the only thing Big10 has over Acc and that is not by much.

Yeah. do we really want hockey and wrestling programs? I'd rather we go to the ACC as well. Nicer weather, Southern so the food would be good when we travel, Beaches nearby on some trips, and better gold courses if you make it a long weekend.

do people really think we would add hockey just because of moving to the big 10? Seriously?

And for the 392nd time: we aren't going to move to a conference simply because fans can have better road trips. Good. Christ.

no we would not add a hockey team or lacrosse, probably but it makes sense to be joined with teams that play many of the same sports as you.

nobody is saying join for road trips, it just happens to be an added bonus for fans. Christ
