Here is a post from Shannon Terry (Rivals and 247 creator) on BOL( Bama on Line).
I am not an oddsmaker, and not ready to make the call, but I would not be surprised if Jimbo Fisher or Art Briles is the next head coach at Texas. I continue to hear that both Fisher and Briles are interested, and highly placed sources tell us to expect Fisher to take a deep look at the opportunity after the BCS title game.
I do not know Texas' AD/BOR order of priority and not even sure they do at this time. However, if I was on the panel making the call I would load up the truck and do whatever it took to bring Fisher to Austin.
If Fisher does land in Austin, there's a domino effect in the college coaching community.
If Fisher leaves for Texas, Kirby Smart would most assuredly be on the FSU short list and would have a solid shot at landing the job. And before some of you ask the obvious question ... yes, Smart would run to Tallahassee, as FSU is one of the top 10-15 jobs in college football.
Which leads us to a very interesting discussion. If Fisher lands in Austin and Smart lands in Tallahassee, were does Jeremy Pruitt end up? Also, don't rule out Pruitt being offered the head job at FSU. He would also be a finalist for the job.
Obviously, Pruitt would take the head job in Tallahassee. However, for sake of debate, let's assume the job goes to Smart. Where would Pruitt land? Would he stay in Tallahassee where he has developed close ties and work for one of his best friends, Kirby Smart? Would he follow his heart to Tuscaloosa and work for his mentor, Nick Saban, or pack up for Austin with Fisher?. Sources tell us that all three would immediately offer Pruitt the DC job.
Friend, head or heart? Make no mistake that Alabama and Texas would load up the Brinx truck and make Pruitt one of the highest paid assistants in the game, making it very difficult for FSU to compete from a financial standpoint. With that said, we think Pruitt was come back to Alabama and work for Saban in a very, very close decision.
We don't normally do "what ifs," but it is certainly entertaining to think about the chain of events that would occur if Fisher lands at Texas.
I think Pruitt is one of the great young coaches, and obviously one of the elite recruiters in college football. I think Pruitt would have a very difficult decision to make. Go to Austin with Fisher or Tuscaloosa with Saban. It's not as easy of a decision as it may seem.
