Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

So, looking at the 2024 season schedule and projecting towards 2025, will the SEC move towards a 9 game conference schedule? I looked at SEC teams future schedules and some have committed to four OOC games out until 2025. Does that keep the conference games at 8 until all contracts have been fulfilled or will the league force each team to buyout a game to enable a 9 conference game system? Thoughts?
The cancelling an OOC game excuses/explanations for not going to 9 league games seems like BS, since the cost of canceling those games will be much less then the added revenue from an added league game.

Man it’s amazing how much recruiting has changed since the Mack Brown days. Back then Mack rarely went out of the state of Texas to get players. He would get 6 or 7 out of the top 10 players in the state. Even before the portal and NIL it started to change. More schools were coming after these Texas kids and more Texas kids were willing to go out of state. Now fast forward to the portal and NIL deals and kids are getting offered so much to leave the state that you aren’t going to get 6 out of the top 10 anymore. I’ve watched Saban’s recruiting for years nation wide and we weren’t doing it. I said several years ago if you are going to play with the top teams you’re going to have to do like they do. Sark is definitely doing that and it’s going to work for us. Sark saw what Saban was doing when he was with him that he took good notes. Give me the top Texas kids and I’d win the national championships every year but you can’t get them anymore. It’s a balancing act with the Texas high school coaches but you have to go nation wide if you want to win.

I still wish UT would stay in the Big 12...................but that's just me.
Might have happened if the big 12 could have gotten out of its own way and either kept the teams that bolted or attracted decent replacements. They seemed perfectly content to twiddle their collective thumbs until Texas and ou decided to seek greener pastures.
