Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Yes. Red shirts and eligibility years are sport independent. That’s also why Kyler Murray can go pro in baseball, lose his baseball eligibility, and still play football. Ricky Williams and Ced Benson did a similar thing.

I coached a kid who went D1 in football and track. Staggered his redshirt years (football his freshman year, track junior year), went to school (all paid for) and left in 6 yrs with an MBA.
Sounds like I have some eligibility 25 years later....sweet.

Why not? Think where Texas would be right now if Rice was their first game instead of Maryland.
I just don't like them.  I want Texas to play a power 5 team  every week.    We can get LaTech and Rice on the schedule but we can't get Arkansas ?  Or UCLA ?

Random question, has there been any updates or news on Patrick Hudson?  Is he done for the season? Is he back practicing?  Or is his football career likely over?  I really hope the kid can play again, but his health is the most important thing.

The weekly grind of a Power 5 conference schedule with an additional marquee out of conference opponent is enough for me. Teams need to play a lesser team to work out the kinks and just get in the rhythm of hitting someone other than their team mates. I'm not saying to schedule fbs schools or anything, but the utep, rice and tulane's of the world are fine for me early in the season.

I agree...and I wouldn't mind if Texas threw SMU or North Texas a bone from time to time...

If it were up to me, I'd never play arky hoggy. Like gaggy, they fled a conference. Don't give them the gift of playing the Horns. Don't give them more of an inroad to Texas recruiting than they already have. F 'em.

Today I am a toad....................because ou really, really sucks. ........Go toads.
Man, if I'm coaching defense against OU I tell my guys to pop the shit out of Murray everytime they run the option.  Murray hates to get hit and will give it up quickly.  Doesn't matter, you still hit him hard.

Also, as much as I want OU to lose I'm enjoying the fall of TCU and Patterson this year.

Watching replay of the Steelers v Bengals game frim last weekend. Noticed former Horn Trey Hopkins starting for the Bengals OL.  Seems like a lot of players never quite hit their potential on the 40 acres only to play in the NFL.  Desmond Harrison another example, but he was a big knucklehead which limited his playing career at Texas.

USC getting smoked by Utah.  SOS takes a hit, but the win is already in the book!  Hope this helps our Bru recruitment..

So Texas beats OU but ESPN says OU has a 50% chance of winning the B12 and Texas only has a 28% chance?  Ok
