So if we actually made the 4 team playoffs and get whipped in our first game, as a fan are you pissed, or are you grateful that the team exceeded your expectations?
I would be happy that they made it but, the Texas fan base has unrealistic expectations, I think the program is on the right track; but the majority of the fan base was ready to jump ship after the Maryland loss, now those same fans calling for Hermans head after week 1 are praising him

that would mean that we beat ou a 2nd time.  i'll be happy with that and the team exceeded my expectations.

Well I'd be both grateful and excited if this team makes the playoffs.  And of course I'd be pissed if we lost in the playoffs lol
For me, disappointed would be a better word than pissed. I am only pissed if we fall short of expectations and we would definitely be exceeding our expectations if we somehow made the playoffs this year.

I'll take the playoff berth.  We may lose to a team like Alabama but I don't think we get our ass whipped.  Just look at the scores since this staff has been here.   TCU last year is the only game we have lost by more than 10 points.

IF....Texas makes the playoffs it means Texas has cleaned up the penalties, had few minor to no injuries and are playing to their potential.  If that’s the case I’d say anything is possible.  IF they do make it they will be battle tested and ready.

I don’t think so. Just the ankle injury kept him out a few weeks.

Does his participation with the track team play in to this at all?  How many track seasons/yrs has he participated, and does that count against eligibility if it is 4 years?
Track participation has no bearing on his football status.

Yes. Red shirts and eligibility years are sport independent. That’s also why Kyler Murray can go pro in baseball, lose his baseball eligibility, and still play football. Ricky Williams and Ced Benson did a similar thing.

I coached a kid who went D1 in football and track. Staggered his redshirt years (football his freshman year, track junior year), went to school (all paid for) and left in 6 yrs with an MBA.
