Its time to fire Strong

See this is my point.  I would be comfortable losing to a decent team or even an average team especially when our horns are prepared, motivated, and play with some heart.

Is that what you saw Saturday?  I didnt.

I mean seriously instead of being a Strong apologist and sympathizer all the damn time answer this.  Is it too much to ask for our longhorns to play competitively against door mat teams and not be shut out by them?  Well?

Point being I was upset after the ND game and all of you guys said

"Listen DMAC that ND team is probably one of the best in CFB and their OL is the best we will see all year."

Now we get our asses kicked by a f##king door mat team.  I mean shut out.  Come On Man.  Shit happens with young teams but the finding excuses for poor coaching and team preparation and game plan is riding a bit thin at 8-12 in 1.5 years.

One more question why is this team 0-11 when the other teams scores first?  Is that the players fault as well?  Or is Macks fault?  Cause according to you Strong is completely and utterly immune to all f##king blame even though he is the head coach.

I dont care who our QB is, or who the OC is, or even who the HC is as long as this team is prepared and motivated.  We saw what this team is capable of vs OU and I was impressed but vs Iowa State that was a disaster.

If we lose to Kansas its official im done with this entire coaching staff.

Good post, good points.

I differ somewhat. I would have been more upset at a loss to OU than I am about ISU. Who can't get up for OU? But truth be told, I'm not comfortable losing to anyone, anytime. But that's just not who we are right now.

Strong is not immune to blame here. I agree that the team should have been more prepared for what they encountered. Hell, I'm a stinking landscaper and even I saw the buzz saw coming. All I did was watch the second half of their Baylor game and saw enough. That's when they put the Lanning kid in who proceeded to direct four scoring drives against a very good Baylor defense.

So I fault Strong for not responding to the lack of jr/senior leadership on this team and BEING the one who stressed what a set up game this was about to be. I played HS ball for Dennis Alexander. We played 1-8 teams that he spent a week convincing us was about to explode. By the time game time rolled around, we thought we were playing the NY Giants. He wouldn't allow us to take anyone lightly, even if he had to lie his ass off to make us believe.

If blame is what you're looking to assign, all I can offer you is my opinion. I'm no expert. I think its a combination of the things you've mentioned. And I think Strong has a part in that.

I just believe in him as a head coach. I still think he's our guy. Do I think changes need to be made? Sure I do. But what kind of OC did you expect Strong to hire at this time of year? Norvell was the obvious, safe choice to take over. It is what it is.

All of that boring shit said, I am with you on the last sentence of your post all the way. We lose to Kansas, no one will type the word "fire" more than me. There would be no reason under the sun to lose to KU.

Well ou is the exception and always will be for me as well.

Granted some of these players are what they are.  Doyle and Flowers cant graduate fast enough for me.  Raulerson must be really bad if he cant beat out that stiff Doyle.  Flowers is my new version of Hughes, well ok maybe that's a stretch but he is terrible.

I like Strong like everyone else but this shit is like roller coaster and has me wondering if OU was the exception not the norm.  I mean how hard can it be getting the team motivated to play in the rivalry game.

Traylor should get a crack at OC.  Maybe even Locksley at QB.  We need to recruit and hire some new coaches for the offense.

I just read Chip Brown's offering today. I think his thoughts represent my thoughts pretty well.

It's time to hand the keys to Jeff Traylor. It's also time to get Locksley involved, taking 2nd team reps and PT against KU.

I don't think they burn locksley's redshirt.
Disagree.  If Strong has 3 more years left on his contract what is he waiting for?  If this team continues to struggle why would he save his RS for the next HC.

Besides this is probably more of Watson thing than anything else.  They didnt shirt Boyd, Hill, Vahe, Williams, Newsome, Elliott, Wheeler, or MJ.  They needed them but they need a QB too.  I understand last year with Heard but the hot seat is warmer now compared to last year.

We're half-way through the year. Do you waste a year of participation for a half season QB battle? I got the impression that the coaching staff wasn't really happy when Brown's staff wasted Swoopes redshirt.

Well, based on what I was just told by someone who would know, it looks like Charlie will be gone by end of season. A small faction was ready to do it even after OU. Now, it's standing room only in this faction. In their collective opinion, there is too much at stake to continue on (brand, recruiting, etc).

It's a $15 mil buyout and no one is blinking. Plus, the new coach's salary. No one is blinking.

I was told that whatever new coach they get will know well how to compete with the Big 12 offenses. It sounded as if someone is already in mind. Or two.

For me, I call Hermann right now.

Woah.

I really expected them to give Strong another year atleast.  The only way I saw him leaving was if we lost the remaining games.  If he does go I completely agree get Herman at all cost.

I like Strong and was hoping the ou win was the turning page but last night was dismal. Who knows, maybe he will take the Miami job and save face with the fact he couldn't handle the Texas job?

Any hints or insight as to whom this individual in the know is? That's one heck of a rumor you are putting out there and you know that stuff spreads like wildfire

I'll be a little sick to my stomach if Strong is gone...

His career at Texas would die from his loyalty to his staff. Watson never should have been the OC. Norvell never should have been the interim OC. We should have had a Scott Frost level OC when Strong came on board.

And in my opinion, this only hurts us in recruiting. We have two of the best Quarterbacks in the State committed over the next two years. We just picked up a huge defensive commit in Carson who will undoubtedly back out of his commitment if Strong is gone. I'm just....sick after reading that.

Well if he can't substantiate the post then I certainly wouldn't be tossing my cookies anytime soon.

I agree, it is. I trust SHA, but maybe his source is overreacting to the ISU loss. We'll see.

SHA is not the only one putting this out there. Several posters on OB's are saying the same thing.

I really really wanted and believed strong had what it took to turn our program around but as this season progressed i lost faith. If this is true i think we wont take that big of a hit in recruiting and i honestly believe that another great coach will get to reap the benefit of this last recruiting class. We have way too much money and now an awesome young team that is ripe to be coached by a great coaching staff. There may have not been much talent when strong took over but i honestly believe that there is more than enough talent now. The shit show that we have watched and i mean mostly coaching needs to come to an end. You have to be able to have a competent game plan in place when you are getting paid as much money as the staff has.

Still hope he gets another year. Almost wish I hadn't read that.

Ha Ha, imagine what I'm feeling like. I've spent most of today defending Charlie. I think STP may even be ticked at me for wanting to give Charlie more time.

This COMPLETELY caught me off guard. So it's not something I took any pleasure in posting. But the guy who called me (regarding something else) is legit and is well connected.

I understand Clendon Ross at IT has stepped out and called for Charlie to be fired. That strikes me as significant, knowing that CR is close with a couple of BMDs. He seldom posts anymore, so this is telling, too, IMO.

Let me clarify to everyone on the Tom Herman thing. I said it sounded like they had someone in mind. Thats me reading between the lines. I threw out the name Tom Herman because it's a name I've heard some BMDs mention in the past. He's also who I would talk to first if I were calling the shots.

SHA you are a passionate fan and i have a lot of respect for you. I dont know if i could have posted that today after all of the ranting iv been doing today. Kudos to you.
